Giannis to NO/Zion to Bulls

Post#1 » by pipfan » Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:36 pm

Chi sends #12, Vuc, PWill, 2027 1st unprotected, Port pick to Milw
Chi gets Zion

NO sends Zion to Bulls and Kelly O, #4 pick plus Milw’s 2 picks back
NO gets Giannis

Milw sends Giannis to NO
Milw gets #4, #12, their 2 picks back, the Port pick and Bulls’ 2027 unprotected pick plus Vuc, PWill, Kelly)

Chi rolls the dice on Zion
White/Ayo
Giddey/Ball
Matas/Huerter
Zion/Phillips
Collins/Smith
Deep bench of Terry, JCarter and a vet big

NO goes for it
Murray/CJ/Murphy/Giannis/Missi
Bench of Alvaro/Hawkins/Jones-need some bigs for depth. If healthy, that is an awesome lineup

Milw starts over with the #4 (VJ), #12 (BPA), their picks back for 2026 and 27, plus the Port pick and the Bulls’ 2027 pick. Vuc can be a tank commander-PWill would get all the minutes he needs, and they’d add a top 5 pick next year
If not enough, Chi could deal White in place of PWill, and take out their 2027 pick?

I like this spin on the trade. I don't think Chicago should do this, but there isn't anyone available at 12 (or 4) that clearly has Zion's upside, so I can see the logic. It is a bit lower risk for Milwaukee than taking Zion directly and gives them nice assets to rebuild with.

Chicago shouldn't be trading an unprotected pick in any condition nor this year's first for a player available. Chicago has one core piece locked up past this season (Matas Buzelis) with Josh Giddey likely to be retained as an RFA this summer. That's it. They need to be in asset accumulation mode.

1) Trade Vuc for a couple distant 2nds
2) Trade Coby for a mediocre 1st

Then, try to trade their expiring deals for longer deals (Collins and Huerter) and an asset. Hypothetically, Houston sends out Green in a Giannis deal and Milwaukee doesn't want Green, Collins+Huerter+Minor Asset for Green. Buy-Low on KCP and flip him at the deadline (Or in Chicago's typical fashion, keep KCP and make the 10 seed). Grant goes to Chicago and Portland loosens up the protections for the expiring money and cap relief.

There are creative approaches for Chicago to accomplish what they should accomplish, bottoming out in 2026 with a multiple franchise-level prospects at the top.

I’m all for trading Coby, and accumulating assets for 2026. But, our FO will not do that-they want to win as many as possible.
Zion is high risk, high reward, but in this deal we move PWill-which helps a ton.
