MIA and DEN Retool w/PHX & POR
This can look ridiculous if the Nuggets go on a run…
Heat receive Kevin Durant, Jamal Murray
Miami retools for a title run with Reilly. Murray fits a KD roster better than Herro and meshes with the remaining wings and front court. They are not hard capped.
Top 8: Murray, Anderson, Durant, Bam, Ware, Highsmith, Jacques Jr., Love
Nuggets receive Tyler Herro, Robert Williams III
Denver retools their back court and adds needed front court defense that will fit with Joker. Can Herro and Braun pick up enough of the playmaking slack? They are not hard capped.
Top 8: Herro, Braun, Porter Jr., Gordon, Jokic, Williams, Westbrook, Strawther
Suns receive Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybull, Nikola Jovic, Kris Murray, Diop Reath, 2029 MIA 1st
Suns get defense to build around Booker and a future first to open up future trade avenues. They duck under the 2nd apron going 5/1 in the trade and releasing Micic and Martin. They are not hard capped.
Top 8: Booker, Thubulle, Dunn, Grant, Richards, Beal, Allen, ONeil
Blazers receive Andrew Wiggins, Terri Rozier, Duncan Robinson
Blazers get off of Grant’s contract and gets NBA level pieces to play next to their youth - improving growth. Can flip one of these salaries to stay under the tax.
Top 8: Scoot, Sharpe, Avdija, Camara, Clingan, Rozier, Simons, Wiggins

This is very bad for the Suns.

Looks a lot better for Phoenix once you cut out Portland?
I don’t understand the Wiggins/Grant swap here.

Suns receive garbage. Not happening lol.
Dunn is better than Thybulle already. He wouldn't play.
This is basically KD for Jerami Grant and 2029 first. The other pieces don't have value.

While I agree with your overall sentiment, don't sleep on Jovic. He's a hell of a nice player

I am not impressed at all.
Three seasons in the league already. NBA bench role player for sure but I don't know if he can become an starter and he needs to sign an extension or he will be a RFA.

I clearly valued Jovic here. At 21 he has improved across the board all three seasons in the league. Comes from a quality, defense first Heat team and has proven effective on that side of the court. Almost 7’ and can shoot. Fits with Book.

I value Thubulle here as well. Still one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and seems to have developed a shot. Dunn isn’t better than him right now but the two of them together is scary for opposing offenses.

I played with this for a while and the hard cap requires to bring in a team like Portland who won’t reach the first apron so doesn’t mind being hard capped. They have to be incentivized one way or another to participate in this trade and getting off of Grant was my way of doing that.

I get that. Would want a second first coming in the door. I just focused on building around Book with length and defense. I think Thybulle has become super underrated. The Grant piece is tough with that contract but he does provide a second another player who can get their own shots. As a Suns fan I’m not crazy about this deal but I do like the pieces around Book.

How you feel about out the Heat in this scenario?

I don't want Durant. I certainly don't want to give up a young all star for him. I guess I can talk myself into thinking we're giving him up for Murray, but that contract of his is brutal. I get it, I just don't really love it. it's a very expensive team with a very old Durant.

I'd do this in a heartbeat.
Murray | JJJ | Durant | Bam | Ware is formidable

That’s what I was thinking. Still have bench pieces and can add without being hard capped at the first apron.

Durant is 37 years old. It's going to be Jimmy Butler 2.0 in terms of games played, only without the leadership. And we'll have to give him an extension. I just didn't see why anyone would be all in on this guy at this point in his career

That’s why I included Murray. I think this team is much better now and still has pieces moving forward that fit with Bams timeline. KD isn’t a regular season asset. Like Butler, it is all about the playoffs. The OP leaves the Heat with a stable of wings who can eat up minutes.
I see why Riley and Arison would want to push things up given their age. Bam is 28 next year. It’s not like his timeline is super long anyway. I don’t understand the hesitation honestly.

You don't understand why I'd hesitate to trade for a 37 year old who can't lead, is injury prone, and hasn't meshed with a team since Golden State? Or why I don't want to commit $50 million a year to Jamal Murray while giving up a younger all-star?
I've been adamant about not wanting Durant. Murray for Herro doesn't fix it
