I do like the fit of IQ in Orlando both from a play style and contract structure.

I'd suggest:
TOR out/ORL in: Quickley ($32.5M)
ORL out/TOR in: KCP, Bitadze ($29.9M) plus a SRP or 2

I've got KCP as more negative than IQ, so 1 or 2 SRPs is to balance value, but YMMV

It makes zero sense for Toronto to take on an aging KCP and a backup C for a couple of 2nds. :D

Add in #16 and it’s closer, but still not enough for Toronto. At 16, you’re not getting stars, so it’s better to take the floor spacing contributions of Quickley.

I have IQ as a slightly negative asset at the moment (in the second year of his contract). I think he turns into a positive asset either in 2026 or 2027 at the latest because of a flat salary and rising cap, but if he is moved this summer I doubt he's moved for much value

That sounds like crypto prices up and down, when in reality he’s signed to a flat multi year contract as a 25 year old.

Think about it: A GM has to assess the whole of the deal.

If a contract gets more attractive over time, that doesn’t make the player less valuable now. The attractiveness of the future value is baked into the trade value now.

It is in practice, a declining cap %. When the new TV money kicks in next year, that will become even more prominent, while Quickley will also be coming into his own prime.

IQ will be an all star soon. He's a Steph level shooter. You'll see.

I just don't see the frugal Orlando Magic trading for an overpaid player of any kind considering they have 170 million committed in 2027 without even extending Banchero.

If KCP @ 2/44M is considered a negative contract what is Quickley @ 4/130M?

There’s zero room for Quickley to outplay his contract, it was bad when given while healthy it’s even worse now with his lingering injuries.

Now, I’m not totally opposed to Orlando trading for Immanuel as strictly a buy low scenario but there’s heavy risk involved even in that given the state of the Magic future finances. They will locked into this core for the foreseeable future and don’t think Quickley gets them over the edge.

I also think the way Torontos decided to build their expensive roster will ultimately bite them so we might see cost saving moves from them sooner than people think.

Both teams pass as currently constructed.
