Anyone else for Giannis is obviously a non-starter for the Bucks. Hoping he isn't traded at all, but if he is ultimately traded to Houston, it will cost at least one of those two guys.

The Bucks aren't really in a position to demand anyone. The Rockets aren't thirsty to make an all-in move, either.

I mean, we really don't know either of those things lol. It's entirely possible that Giannis doesn't want to be traded and all this discussion is a waste of our time. Also entirely possible that the Rockets decide they do want to strongly pursue Giannis and barring Giannis losing a limb, Houston will need to give up one of their top two prospects to get him.

I wouldn't blame them for deciding they'd rather stay the course with their young guys and see what happens, but to think you can keep them and also get Giannis is just unrealistic. The only reason the Rockets are discussed as a potential landing spot for him is because of the fact that they have Amen and Sengun to offer.

The Rockets are in the discussion because they have a boatload of Phoenix draft picks and a plethora of 23 year old and under players to trade, that doesn't mean Sengun and Amen. Please show me a player/asset that's the equivalent of Amen Thompson who is on the table for Giannis. There is none. Teams don't trade players like that unless they're a pain to deal with (ala Luka).

I'm fairly certain Sengun would be on the table.

You seem to think Amen is on the fast track to superstardom; if that's the case, then yeah, nobody else is going to offer someone of that caliber. There simply aren't many of those in the NBA. If you see him as more of a potential all-star, then yes, there will likely be other players in that vein available.

And I'm not even saying it has to be Amen, but it absolutely has to be him or Sengun as the centerpiece and I'm sure the Rockets FO understands that if they do try to pursue Giannis, that is what it entails.

You're the main Rockets fan were that openly hates Sengun, so yeah I'd assume you're certain about it.

The question in not really what Giannis is worth. He is a stud in his prime and can propel you to a championship.
The real question is: "What can we get for him if he wants to go get a ring?"

OKC, Houston and Utah have picks stacked up. That does not mean they are willing to just hand them over. Houston just has to beat the next best offer.

Milwaukee owes picks to NO and Portland, so they have some leverage to be included in a deal. If nothing else, they can suck up some value for those picks. If NO decided to move on from Zion by sending him to a third team, then something could happen there.

Utah is not close to having a good team. Markky, Kessler and Giannis would be interesting. Still, seems like Utah is looking farther into the future.

OKC can put together a good package. Might make it interesting. Question would be whether Giannis was willing to live there.

Houston has a lot to offer but the idea is to better the team. Giannis would fit well next to Sengun and Amen.

My version:
NO gets Eason (or number 9). NO gives up 2026 Mil swap and 2027 Mil 1st.
ATL gets something small to give up right in lower of Mil/NO 2027. Maybe a 22 for 9 swap.
Houston gets Giannis.
MIL gets Green, one of Sheppard/Whitmore, Eason, 2026&2027 picks back, 2027 best two of Hou/BKN/PHX, 2029 best two of HOU/PHX/DAL. So, MIL gets QUALITY picks, that could be very good. Mil has two bad years (2026, 2027) with Lillard burning their cap but with good picks. 2027 draft could be epic with three lottery picks. Rolls into 2028 with a ton of cap space to add veterans that core before handing picks to Portland.

Houston rolls with:
Vleet/Amen/Brooks/Giannis/Sengun. Jabari/Adams/(one of Whitmore/Sheppard) off the bench. Houston locks in a solid roster (not much depth but just enough). Can transition out Vleet/Brooks/Adams in a couple of years as others have to be paid. Solid contender for the next five to six years.

Massive overpay? Giannis better be threatening to move back to Greece if he doesn’t play for the Rockets in order to have the leverage to make that package a massive overpay.

Let's make it easy.

Amen Thompson is not going to be traded. He's untouchable. Sengun, almost so, but Rafael Stone might listen. Anyone else for 30 year-old Giannis, including picks, of course, not a problem.

You demonstrate a great point. Giannis paired with the two best Rockets prospects is a clunky fit at best. Giannis, Amen and Sungun don’t shoot from deep with regularity or accuracy. Giannis, added to those two, doesn’t necessarily help where the rockets most need it. Giannis actually pairs best with Tari and Jabari, at least on paper.

KD does pair will with Amen and Sengun, address some of the Rockets playoff deficiencies, and will cost significantly less capital to obtain.
