Another Chicago Pope
Orlando trades: K. Caldwell-Pope, A. Black, 2026 1st (lottery protected)
Chicago trades: C. White, K. Huerter
Chicago cashes in on White's cheap deal and gets some future assets in exchange for eating KCP's extra year, Orlando gets a great fit in their backcourt next to Suggs and some long-term financial flexibility.

No opinion on the trade, but you get a thumbs up for the thread title. Well done!

Re: Another Chicago Pope
Why would the Bulls do this? KCP is on a bad contract. Anthony Black has value mainly because there's still upside with him, but his upside is far from proven. By putting a lottery protection on the 2026 1st round pick, the value of that pick isn't great.Really the Bulls are trading one of their most valuable assets and for someone who's one a bad contract and a couple of meh assets.

Re: Another Chicago Pope
I like this. I'd like it more if you could route KCP to a better team for an expiring or worse 2 year deal with some 2nds, but I like it even as it is.
White addresses a primary need and Huerter backfills the lost shooting for a year. And the Magic need all the shooting they can get. And for the Bulls a prospect and a pick for a guy you aren't going to want to pay after paying Giddey feels great. And KCP's deal isn't any kind of anchor.

Re: Another Chicago Pope
I think this trade makes a lot of sense. Fills the Magics needs at a reasonable cost and gets the Bulls right were they want to be, under the tax and competing for the playin

I like KCP to the Lakers for Vincent and Kleber. Think he fills a need for them.
Reaves/KCP/Luka/LeBron/???
That is a nice fit.

Has to be the #16 this year. And I agree, can Chi reroute KCP to a 3rd team for an expiring? Would Det want him?

Re: Another Chicago Pope
Props for creativity
Likewise thumbs up on sending the Bulls a 2026 pick when they have a whole bunch of expiring contracts and room for 2 rookies
Bad on the player swap, sorry back to Earth. Trading White who might get more, might not for KCP who is 6 years older and signed for 2 more is not the smart play. Don't need to buy the potential of Black when they will have Buzellis in year two, their 2025 pick and now 2 2026 picks. They don't want to take steps back waiting on another unrealized potential in Black. Huereter is expiring after the upcoming season but at 26 is a young veteran to keep around those young guys and he looked pretty darn good with court awareness next to Gideey, White and Buzelis so better to think about hanging on to him.

I agree that a pick this year, probably #16 makes more sense. Orlando still has a 1st in this draft and doesn't owe any 1sts going forward.
Don't see KCP to Detroit - they've got SG options, PF is probably their biggest need.

12 And-1s(and probably counting) for a trade idea. Not sure I've ever seen that here. Very impressive work OP to find a deal this many people like.

I'm under no illusions that it's the trade rather than seizing on current events to make a bad pun, but appreciated none the less

Re: Another Chicago Pope
The fact that this deal has Pope, Black and White (smoke) involved is really just a chef's kiss.
