Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
Charlotte trades: Brandon Miller/Nurkic/Grant Williams/Charlotte 1st 2026
Boston trades: Jaylen Brown
Charlotte goes for the playoffs adding a all-star Jaylen Brown to pair with LaMelo.
Boston sheds salary while also getting a young potential all-star talent in Brandon Miller.

Charlotte says no I'm guessing? Or am I way off on what Brandon Miller would grow into with Boston's talent around him.

Yeah that's a concern, but he's also coming off wrist surgery on his shooting hand.

Brandon Miller is far away from being a Top 50 player.

I thought he was developing into a future stud in Charlotte, but truth be told I don't want much Hornets. If he's a dud then this is probably a no go from Boston's perspective.

He's definitely going to be a stud, but he got injured this year and sort of fell off the radar.
He's still a good young player with a lot of potential.

Yeah he is a good young player with a lot of potential. I think there is a good chance he gets to Jaylen Brown level at some point in his career, but I'm also not a big Jaylen Brown fanatic.
Being a wing makes Miller less polarizing and more sought after. Given his current skill-set, size and motor it's almost a given his floor will be flirting with being a sub-all-star during his prime. Unlike Brown in his early years, Miller has an impressive handle and utilizes it to be more productive as a playmaking.

Brandon Miller is a JAG until he shows he has leveled up. That said Charlotte is not one player away, so this would maybe get us to the middle at best. Charlotte is like 4 real NBA guys away from even being respectable. No reason to get ahead of ourselves with a trade like this.

I'm very high on Flagg - but he'll be the youngest player in the league. He's several years away from being a high-impact player. During Flagg's prime Miller (and the 2026 1st) are more likely to matter than Brown.
Overall this is a terrible idea for Charlotte. For Boston you'd have to find a way to get a solid starting center out of the Charlotte 1st and extras to make it work (Horford is old and KP is unreliable).

you're likely right with Charlotte who should stick to building slowly, its just been a few hard years for Charlotte fans

Charlotte does need to start trying. But that doesn't mean dealing key prospects or future 1sts to get it done. They just need to fill out their roster with NBA players. They need to go 11+ deep in guys that can credibly play so that they aren't 1 or 2 injuries away from collapse. This really shouldn't be that hard though Charlotte has really struggled to do that.

Re: Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
Brandon Miller is going to be a great player.
Hornets have to fix the culture though. Realistically, the best thing for the Hornets to do, would be to trade Ball. The problem is, Ball’s injury history hurts his value to the point of it being better for Charlotte to keep him. Then he’ll come back, show what he can do, build his value up, but he’s doing things to where now Charlotte doesn’t want to trade him.
If they can get a good deal for him, I think they need to pull the trigger. That locker room needs something different.

Re: Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
Just a layer on the actual OP. Boston should make CLT help dump Nurk on a 3rd team. Think 34th to Boston and Boston uses 28th? Something like that.
And IIRC Grant wasn’t missed on his way out so probably move his money as well? But maybe that was only Dallas and not Boston.
Personally think Boston doesn’t move on from Brown unless they’re adding to him to get an upgrade, but if they do the deal should save enough money that they can keep everyone else that they care about.

Re: Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
Brandon Miller already has a injury history and we don't know if it's one season issue or will he alway be a guy can't stay on the court. The issue is if this is a one off issue, this will simply too good for the Celtics. They are getting a great young player who could be better than Jaylen Brown 3-4 years from now, while also on a cheaper contract and a pick that will be lottery. I don't think a Jaylen Brown/Lamelo Ball led team is going help the Hornets make the playoffs, even if they're adding Cooper Flagg. I think the Hornets are atleast 2-3 years away from being true playoff contenders and I think trading Lamelo Ball makes a lot more sense if it's for the right deal than making any win now moves.

I'd keep Miller rather than do this.
If Boston wants to shed salary, I'd offer up a pick and expirings for Porzingis

Re: Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
Wonder if you tweak this idea and expand with BKN...
BOS gets LaMelo, Claxton, and Cam J
BKN gets Holiday, Porzingis, 25 BOS 1st, 27 BOS 1st
CHA gets J Brown
That saves Boston an ungodly amount of money while only taking a little talent hit.
Charlotte goes with Brown and Miller on the wings. Could use Williams to go get a PG? I'd look to move on from Bridges, as well.
And Brooklyn uses some of their cap space to upgrade and get paid to do so. Still would have more than a max available.

I don't like this move but, I think it would be a good idea for the Hornets to add some veterans to the team like the Rockets did with Van Fleet and Brooks. More realistic targets that they could get much cheaper like Anfernee Simons, Bruce Brown, Colin Sexton, Klay Thompson. You start building a culture and you don't have to give up young valuable pieces.

Interesting basically swap LaMelo for Brown. We can draft our PG in the draft. I like it.

Re: Charlotte/Boston blockbuster!
That Brown contract was an overpay the second it was signed, but Boston got a championship, so it’s hard to criticize.
But now w the new CBA kicked in, those MAX contracts are a killer if the player isn’t dominant. Brown is very good, but not really a #1 player on a championship team kind of guy. Boston is better off trading him for multiple assets. The OP is a good attempt, although I’d pass if I were Charlotte.
