Still think some variation of this is my favorite non-KD Dallas move
Suns trade: Allen
Suns get: Gafford
Trade an extra guard for a needed center to pair with Richards.
Jazz trade: Sexton/#21
Jazz get: Thompson/Hardy/#11
Jazz use Sexton to move up into the lottery. Thompson provides spacing for their kids to develop. Or you flip him.
Mavs trade: Gafford/Thompson/Hardy/#11
Mavs get: Sexton/Allen/#21
Mavs get Kyrie stopgap/6th man, and one you could extend off that number and Allen backfills in for Klay to make a good rotation at SG with Christie. Take a high variance swing with 21.

Makes sense. How about a pick swap? Suns get #21 and Mavs get #29. Gafford is expiring and Allen has a decent contract locked in for three.

Yeah maybe? Typically this board hasn't valued Allen very highly, but I would agree his contract length is a positive. I'd be okay with adding that value to the Suns to account for it.

The value seems about right, especially if the Jazz have a target in mind for #11. The potential stumbling block is the reported desire for Utah not to take on salary beyond the 25-26 season; unsure if this would convince Jazz brass to reconsider.

I would hope we aren't committed to that plan. I really like this deal. I have Gafford = Allen. Allen has a longer contract and ymmv on that, but I think Gafford is a bit better/more coveted. Most teams could use him as a backup, some could use him as a starter. Lots of teams could use Allen, but several have their shooting guard rotation in a place where he doesn't make a ton of sense? So I wouldn't add the 21 for 28 swap, personally.

When a trade is that close on value I was just grasping at straws to get a marginally better pic. lol.

I'd rather keep Gafford and 11 pick.

I like this trade for the Suns and I think is a fair trade for every team.

If the goal for the Mavericks is to move down, does #26 + #27 work?
Cam Johnson + #26 +#27 for Filer + #11
Cam Johnson + #26 +#27 for Filer + #11

Cam is a better player than Sexton - not sure if he addresses needs in the same way, but I could imagine some kind of three team deal that moves Utah up from 21 using one/both of 26/27 <depending on what salary comes back to Utah> and Dallas ends up with Cam and Sexton?
