Utah gets: Dejounte Murray, Indiana Pacers 2026 first (top 4 protected by Indiana in Siakam trade)
New Orleans gets: John Collins
Why for Utah: Take on bad money in exchange for a first round pick. Dejounte also can rehab all of next year and not introduce locker room problems due to strategic resting or minutes issues.
Why for New Orleans: Get off bad money and get an interesting fit with Zion and Missi.

I don't see the Pelicans selling this low on Dejounte Murray just one year after trading Dyson Daniels and 2 1st round picks for him.

He's coming off the worst season of his career and a devastating Achilles tear that will cause him to miss all of next season and then probably come back diminished after. He's a sunk cost.

And they should allow the cost to remain sunk rather than burning more assets on him.

Re: NOP-UTA
DJM played only 31 games coming off of wrist surgery in the very first game. And by the time he returned, our team and season was a train wreck. Still per 36 he was 19.3, 8.1 and 7.1. His Achilles injury was a kick in the you know what, but he got hurt at the end of January and is expected back mid next season. What he will look like is anyone’s guess of course, but he’s 28 and walking around today. He’s not dead. I don’t think the deal in OP is crazy, but I also don’t think the Pels are in a rush to move their possible starting PG.
