CLE/UTA/BOS

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Wed May 14, 2025 3:51 am

Utah out: Collins, Sexton, Williams, George, Hendricks, Clarkson, #5, #21, 27 Lakers 1st, 31 PHX first, 29 Cleveland 1st, and 5 2nds
Utah in: Jaylen Brown and Garland

Boston out: Brown
Boston in: Collins, Clarkson, George, #5 and 5 2nds

Cleveland out: Garland
Cleveland in: Sexton, Williams, Hendricks, #21, 27 Lakers 1st, 31 PHX 1st, and 29 Cleveland 1st

Why for Utah: Draft lottery didn’t turn out the way everyone hoped. Turn to win now.

Why for Boston: Get a young guard and a high pick, could depend on Tatums recovery time.

Why for Cleveland: Sexton is a tier below Garland but they get young guys and picks.

Thoughts on value?

I don't get it for Cleveland at all, and I think it is short on value for Boston.

This is why you want to keep Markkanen? To build around 3 Top 30-40 players in Brown, Markkanen and Garland? The team is still worse than Minnesota, Denver and OKC in their own division with little avenue to improve enough to join their tier.

It's two distinct deals, so I'm not sure why they're lumped together. Cleveland sees this as taking a step back next season for a much delayed return; I doubt that's the direction they want to go. This isn't nearly enough value for Boston, especially if you're touting George as a key component. Overall it's the wrong move for Utah as well.

This is not the direction the Jazz should go, and to give up 5 1st round picks and some good prospect for the honor? A big NO from me.
