Bulls offseaon

Post#1 » by outlaw81 » Thu May 15, 2025 9:29 am

Just wanted to see what people think of this idea

Sign and trade with golden state
Kuminga for Vuc.

Draft Duke center with the 12th pick Maluach

I’m on the fence with this but resign Josh giddy 4yrs 100 mill. On the fence because his defense is so bad.

Roster
PG Giddy, ayo and ball
SG white, Kuerter
SF Kuminga, Williams
PF Buzelis, smith
C Collins, Maluach

Would this team have a decent future. They would have 5 young players. Any of these player have a chance at becoming a star? I think buzelis and Kuminga have the best chance and white could become an all star if he becomes more consistent.

I could be wrong, but I think with Post on board, he doesn't need Vucevic (in this scenario, I'd stick with JK) and I'd look for another center archetype.. (maybe add the Magic, where they can receive Vucevic's expiration in exchange for Goga + G. Harris? Magic could use Vuc's spacing, right? Maybe the Grizzlies, for Clarke/Konchar?).. I like Maluach's target for the Bulls, however I think they'll have to move up to get him, I doubt he'll be there at 12)

GS could use a stretch-5 that can work with their defense. I don't think that's Vuc. I also see him as a meh backup center at this point with $5-10M in on-court value making $21M. I'd want a better asset than that for a S&T deal (jut letting Kuminga walk and getting full MLE money available is probably better.

I also don't think that the deal works straight up due to BYC issues.

GSW can't justify the salary to Vuc I don't believe.

Giddey probably cost more. I think if Chicago only offers that Brooklyn comes in and offers more.

That's not really relevant since 3-4 centers are all in the same tier.

I think GSW would be willing to try Vucevic for a year. The bigger issue is the Bulls being as infatuated with the Kuminga potential as so many around here. Yeah it's a simple S&T deal, are those always the first trades made because teams look for simple? There doesn't seem to be another Vuc to GSW direct trade to be found so some other team wanting Kuminga with someone else to send to CHI would seem to be a better deal all around.

I'm sure BRK could make a bigger offer to Giddey but does Giddey look at what he's been able to do with the Bulls, post Lavine, and figure his following contract could be a max deal either way. Does he want to sign on to a Nets organization that has stripped it down a couple of times in the past 6 years and get stuck trying to build out of the lottery for 2-3 years and not having a good time doing it? A lot of draft picks and cap space means a team gets a new roster, that doesn't always result in a good team much less great, there are examples of failure every year. Staying with a Bulls to be part of a partially built roster may be Giddey's most attractive option
