Kuminga for Ayton

Post#1 » by rambo_ortega » Fri May 16, 2025 6:34 am

Warriors Get:
DeAndre Ayton

They get a very good center who can be an all star with the right influence around him.

Ayton/Green/Butler/Podziemski/Curry

Blazers Get:
Jonathan Kuminga

He has a very high potential and will have room to grow in Portland

BYC issues means that this isn't close to working under the CBA (if Kuminga signs a big contract then he only counts as half that salary for outgoing money from GS for contract matching).

Ayton also just makes too much money for the role he'd have with the Warriors.

Better to let Ayton expire.

Kuminga is fools gold.

Where’s this guy? All I see is DeAndre Ayton.

Exactly.

If Chris Paul couldn’t do it, no one can.

Chris Paul did do it. Oh Ayton wasn't an all-star, but that version of Ayton? Who played defense and didn't only concern himself with how many shots he was getting? That player would be in high demand.

Chris Paul takes a lot of heat for some reason for how anal he is, yet he constantly got the best out of teammates because his standards were high and they were precise and he didn't care if he hurt your feelings insisting we are going to play right. There is a reason the Spurs signed him last year.

Yeah, ayton on a team with dray and jimmy sounds like recipe for disaster.

Kuminga is likely dealt cause he doesn’t fit the Warriors system. Don’t see Ayton being any better in that regard

I think something like Kuminga for Clint Capela makes more sense?

Whose system does Kuminga fit?

Who needs a forward who wants a big contract and isn’t really good at anything?

A team with a system that fits a talented athletic downhill scorer and solid on ball defender. I imagine there will be a market for him

I wouldn’t want Kuminga on a big contract, especially as Portland already has 2 forwards we really like and a competent enough 3rd forward who himself is overpaid. I’d only take Kuminga on a contract he wouldn’t accept and a role smaller than he’d be happy with. Better to just let Ayton expire.

Sounds like a second round draft pick, veteran minimum type.

No interest in Kuminga, especially on a contract that comes even remotely close to matching Ayton.

Would rather allow Ayton to expire than add Kuminga on a huge deal to be a bench F (As he is 100% not winning a starting spot over Camara or Deni).

Ya I thought these types of S&T are almost impossible now? Even if GS was to S&T Kuminga, wouldn't Brooklyn have to be involved to eat half the salary from the other team?

For example Kuminga signs for 20 (but he only allows for 10 right going back to GS right?)
so now GS needs to figure out where to send the other 10?

Yeah, a third team with cap space will likely need to be involved

I like the concept of bringing a center back to GSW. So how about sending Kuminga to Brooklyn for Nick Claxton?

GSW gets a starting young center. Brooklyn gets a SF that can play off of Johnson. Brooklyn can absorb the difference in salaries.

I'd fit in with the KINGS... Valanciunas and several SRPs? (If they move DDR for a guard)
