But Atlanta gets really unaffordable in a year, so they’d have to feel like a true contender to do this move. I think they could be though? That starting line up is really great even with Gaff. Maybe ownership would pay the tax 2026-2027 and then they move on from whoever is needed to reset.

Yeah, this scenario has a separate KP/Hauser move to duck the tax and get more contracts in that $15-17M range. .
As a separate deal:
Hawks can help Boston get under the 2nd Apron:
Hauser into the Bogi $13 mil TPE
KP $30 mil expring for Terence Mann's 3yry $15.5 mil per
KP has injury concerns, so a Hawks team that suffered through its own injuries this year might be reluctant, but might be better able to manage his minutes off the bench behind Okongwu.

I kinda like that. You know KP and JB are besties, right??? :D

Nah, I have him as the best asset coming back for a top 25 guy who shows up in the playoffs even if he’s a little overpriced. Risacher, 13, OO, Mann is my rough order. Brown is by far the best asset here, imo. He’s maybe overpaid by, what, $10M a year? Not great, yet it’s not the albatross people make it out to be.

JB would make sense for a team that is an elite "robin" (two-way SG) away from doing something significant. That's not Atlanta IMO, especially after the roster holes opened up by this trade.

Brown to Houston makes a lot of sense

Depends to me if Jalen Johnson stay healthy but 3 20+ point scorers along with elite defensive guard would be strong, at the same time Risacher looked really good down the stretch and Okongwu put up 15/10/3 as a starter with +2.1 bpm so yeah I wouldn’t give all that up for Brown and his contract.

HOU makes sense for sure. But they also got in that place by spending money on FVV and Brooks. I don’t think Brown makes ATL a sure fire contender or anything, but it’s a nice step. One trade is never the whole plan, and they still have some nice picks / salary to work with to keep building.

Also, I think Gafford and Queta are being overlooked. They really help fill any holes opened up.

But, consensus seems to be ATL isn’t interested, so all good.
