Yeah, the Pistons always thought that when they were trying to sell cap space.

You can probably get two weak seconds or one semi-decent one for that relatively small amount of cap space, particularly given Fontecchio is expiring. In other words- you can do a bit better than this, but probably not as much as you're thinking.

The Wizards have done pretty well these past two seasons buying 2nd round picks. They even bought a FRP from Memphis by absorbing Marcus Smart's contract.

Yeah if you're willing to accept non-expiring deals the value goes up.

The Pistons never were for whatever reason. Super frustrating.

I tend to agree. It really depends how motivated the Cs are to move Hauser( have other options like trading Holiday been exhausted). And also other offers. I think they can get multiple seconds or a highly protected first for Hauser.

This should be an interesting summer. It's going to be the first one where all the new apron rules will come to the forefront and very few teams have cap space. If Boston was taking back salary of some sort, maybe he's worth 2 seconds. I don't think you'll see many teams giving up cap space and picks for him though. I mean, he's a decent role player but he's not a big bargain.

Idk. He is a top tier 3 and D rotation guy and proven Playoff performer. He makes about 2/3 of the mid level exception. You can’t sign a free agent better than Hauser for less, and it’s not likely you can draft a guy out of the lotto that gives you more for less. I think you are underestimating his value.

I think the disconnect is with you seeing him as a top tier 3&D and I'm not sure thats a universal opinion. I think he is more much like Isaiah Joe than he is Caruso or Wallace or Dort, no? A good player. But top tier defensively? That feels like a stretch.

Yeah, I'd characterize Hauser as "better than you might think" on defense, but not a true 3&D guy. He'll hold up okay in a switch, but he's not a guy you assign to guard the opposition's best wing.

Ok fair. Top tier 3 and solid D . Point was that on. 10 million per year deal at much less than the mid level he is a solid asset.
My gut is the Celtics don’t try to move him unless they have to, or they get a solid return and they have until the trade deadline in Feb 2026 really to consider other options.

I like the player. I think he moves into space and returns a small asset if Boston does decide to move him. I have no idea how far Boston wants to go in cost cutting. He's the easiest move in that he's more expendable than Pritchard and makes far less than the other key guys. But if they can shed enough money in KP and/or Jrue deals I'd sure love to hang on to him too.

I also don't know how good Brad views this team without Tatum(and potentially Horford I guess). I think he probably views them higher than this board has been. I could easily see attaching this year's first to KP to try and get a cheaper win now center back and trying to still be very competitive.
