Philly - New Orleans
Philly Trades: #3, Oubre, Drummond, Eric Gordon
New Orleans Trades: #7, Herb Jones, Olynick
Philly moves down in the draft and gives up some small pieces to get Jones and the 7th pick. Olynick is a nice back up 4/5 who can shoot which is something Philly has missed. Herb would be a great fit with Maxey, McCain, and George. With the 7th pick they can still get a top tier player in Tre Johnson, Kneuppel, CMB, or Edgecomb depending on who falls.
New Orleans moves way up to snag Bailey a guy with superstar potential. Trading Jones is tough but Bailey takes his place at a way higher potential level. If Bailey hits, the Pels can transition away from Zion and move forward in a big way.

I don’t think Jones is any better than Oubrea, so this is an easy no.

Re: Philly - New Orleans
I think Philly just resigns Grimes/Oubre(likely opts out to get a longer deal) and stays at 3. Herb coming off a worse year than previous ones and an injury is just not a big enough need for Philly to move down like this. Kelly O is more of a throw in and doesn't move the calculus here.

That's crazy, in terms of advanced analytics, eye test, and general consensus.
As a Pels fan, Im a no on this unless we are trading Zion. If not, then Id rather Herb and 8. But the value is fair to the Pels.

This is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't think you're going to have a lot of company here...

That's wild. Are you just ignoring all statistical evidence here?

Oubre wins the better esthetics metric. Oubre is a career chunker that has a role in the NBA but is clearly way less impactful than Herb. I just don't see a big enough need for Herb if George is still in town and they want to give big minutes to McCain. Grimes is likely resigned. He would for sure help but likely not enough to justify the drop.

That poster has a Ripken-esque streak of rejecting trade proposals to the Sixers, so I wouldn't sweat it.
For me, Herb is a guy I like bringing in. Not an Olynyk fan so I'd want something else in his place but I'm at the discussion table when we start with Herb and 7.

I'd love that for the Sixers
Salary seems way off though. I think it would need to be just Herb Jones?

Yeah to each their own on that, but to me Herb both "looks" like he's playing better defense, and stats would indicate that he is playing better defense. He gets alot of home run plays like live ball turnovers and blocking 3 point shots that are fun to wathc on top of the high level help and point of attack defense that is less sexy to watch.

Re: Philly - New Orleans
I'm more interested in a Zion/Embiid trade with NOP +/- a 3rd team.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Would NOP still be interested if it was 5 and Oubre for 7 for Jones?

I think it works salary wise. This is also assuming Gordon and Drummond both opt in.

Re: Philly - New Orleans
Yes for me for Philly. Herb is great and helps you win now assuming they will want a real shot with Embiid and PG next year. I’m not a fan of Ace and don’t think there’s a huge drop off from 3-8 so they still get a nice prospect. I actually have VJ Edgecomb 3 which isn’t an amazing fit for them with Maxey and McCain.
I have no idea what to do with the Pels, so this seems reasonable for them. I don’t think there’s a major game changer at 3 to move up for but Herb Jones is also not breaking the bank to do so

Re: Philly - New Orleans
if the Sixers turn that down and take Edgecombe I think I would offer up #4.
#7, Olynyk, Herb for #4, Nurk exp, Salaun (exp if you decline his options)

investigate Adam Silver

Yeah, I'd do that for the pels. Herb would be a great back court partner for Lamelo

I don't think so. I think there's a drop off after 4. The pels can get a similar tier prospect at 5 or 7 so it doesn't make sense to use herb to move up 2 spots
