Not one Pritchard for 2 2nds deal has been posted here, but fake outrage probably felt a bit cathartic or at least I hope it did.

I have a secret to share with you, and I am sure it will come as a shock to the majority of posters here (who can
continue on with their Payton Pritchard for two second round picks trades),
but Holiday/Porzingis/Hauser like the vast majority of Celtics players all have positive value. There's no need to trade them off
for the NBA flotsam and jetsam...
Jrue has little, if any, positive value. Most teams will view him as a negative due to age and contract.
KP is probably a little more valuable on the contract side, and a little less because of his injuries.
What do you think they are worth?

The need (and leverage for other teams) comes from the massive amount of money Boston is paying to keep their guys. But you are technically correct that they don’t need to trade them just as long as ownership is willing to pay big time taxes on them.

I feel like POR is getting one too many second here. I think just one of those really high seconds is fine for $6M taken on.
For BOS… value seems fine considering the money shed. After this though they probably have to look to send Hauser somewhere, pay to dump RWilliams somewhere and shed what they can off of Porzingis to avoid the tax.

I think I would probably pass here for the Hornets. Cap space seems like a stock I want to hold until the trade deadline next season. Feels like it's value is about to come back around.
As far as trading the two 2nds to move up, meh. Isn't this the first year that the two rounds of the draft are on different days? Might be cool to have two top picks in the 2nd. I am open to trading them. I don't know if moving up 5 spots is enough.

Pass for Portland. From my perspective, it is $6M extra, less cap flexibility, and a player that is harder to trade in general for a 2nd.

They did it last year. The coverage on night 2 was insufferable as the whole program was based around "Will Lakers draft Bronny?"

As the 2nd apron got digested, an extension for Jrue that seemed a little rich now seems like a substantial negative.
It's crazy that the Celts just acquired Jrue 18 months ago. For 14th pick in 24 draft, for an unprotected pick in 2029...
and then Celts extended him at this number, which they absolutely did not have to, they didn't realize Clips would let Paul George walk
If they knew that, you let Jrue play it out, he sees there are no cap space teams and he signs way less, 2 for $60 or something
but Boston screwed themselves... but to pay two picks, could be two lottery picks, to have a guy for 18 months and have to pay more picks to dump...
demonstrates a lack of understanding all around about how 2nd apron + repeater would change the marketplace
obviously, Portland expeirienced something similar with Jerami Grant contract and how perception of that figure changed

Plus Grant crapped his pants this year.

Jrue does nothing for the Hornets. It would honestly be disrespectful to trade him to Charlotte.
Also Charlotte has the #4 pick which will either be Ace/VJ/Tre no need to bring in Jrue when they have a top 4 pick who needs to play right away.

1) gives us a secondary playmaker
2) gives us real stand-in for when LaMelo misses games
3) defends well (which we need next to LaMelo and Miller)
4) can be a veteran leader with playoff and championship experience
in general, there are A LOT of minutes to go around in Charlotte. Even if we draft Tre Johnson or VJ (pure SGs) and bring back Tre Mann, there's minutes for everybody.
PG: LaMelo 30mpg / Jrue 18mpg
SG: Jrue 8mpg / rookie 20mpg / Mann 20mpg (or if Mann isn't in the picture... a few more minutes for the rookie and Jrue, and Miller slides into a few SG minutes)
SF: Miller >30mpg / TBD
If the rookie is starter worthy right away, then Jrue turns into one of the league's best 6th men and Tre Mann gets phased out.
LaMelo being out for stretches is something you HAVE to account for, and we can easily bump minutes accordingly:
PG: Jrue 30mpg / Tre Mann 18mpg
SG: rookie 30mpg / Tre Mann 8mpg / 10mpg for NSJ or another benchwarmer
Jrue is a pro. I didn't see fellow pros Khris Middleton, CP3, etc pouting when they got salary dumped onto bad teams from a great one. They showed up and helped their new young teams.

Re: Celtics/Hornets/Blazers Yeah its a Jrue deal, sorry
In reading what John Hollinger, Sam Vecenie and other draft insiders say, second rounders have very little value this year due to so many solid players likely returning to college where they can make guaranteed NIL money. The expectation is that next year the draft will be very deep as those guys have to put their names in. I would pass for Portland.

Portland gets two good 2nds for taking on $6M. Nurkic is either the 3rd center or gets bought out.
Charlotte gets a perfect veteran to help them start transitioning to being competitive and turns their high 2nds into a late 1st
Boston saves $8M plus tax immediately and gets two playable backups in return. Much bigger savings the next two seasons.
How about this edit:
Boston trades: Jrue / #28 / #32
Boston gets: Josh Okogie / Timelord
Celtics get a better player back (Okogie) and get to keep Tillman. They save more money ($11+M pre-tax). They do give up #32 for the these modifications.
Charlotte trades: Okogie / Nurkic / Jeffries / #34
Charlotte gets: Jrue / Murray / #28
Hornets keep Green, but give up Okogie instead. For that change they get to keep the #33 pick and a little better player back in Murray. Hornets would have to include ~$900k to make the trade legal, so Im including Jeffries as a partially guarantee to make it work.
Portland trades: Timelord / Murray
Portland gets: Nurkic(bought out)? / Jeffries (cut?) / #32 / #34
Portland contributes a bit more value in a fringe rotation level player in Murray.

Im not sure I completely buy that. There are some really good prospects that will be available until pick ~40ish.
From 45-60, yeah - not much talent there

I think if Murray is included I would do the deal w/ #32 and a future SRP rather than both #32 and #34. Think it makes it more attractive to CHA / BOS as well.
BOS OUT - Holiday, #28, future SRP
BOS IN - Okogie, RWIII
CHA OUT - Nurkic, Okogie, #34
CHA IN - Holiday, Murray, #28
PDX OUT - RWIII, Murray
PDX IN - Nurkic, #34, future SRP
I would also include Reath to either team for a future SRP if that moves the needle. I want to open roster slots for youth.

This is a good deal for Portland, but I'm skeptical they'll accept the payroll bump for seconds, which, as pointed out, they routinely sell. But I like it. If Murray can go somewhere else it looks even better.

This is an interesting observation I hadn't really thought about. I do keep track as players pull out from the draft and I hadn't noticed any particularly strong prospects pulling out, looked like most years. But we have some prospects with some 7 figure NIL deals so yeah if their agent tells them from talking to teams I project you to the 2nd, they might well go back.
Probably will have some impact? But I appreciate you posting this as it might have an impact. Might also mean seniors end up being drafted higher in years to come because you will have a more talented group of guys staying in school plus they will be more ready from day 1 which becomes more valuable in this new apron league.

Holiday contract is horrble and #28 is nothing. Jrue is not the vetern that Charlotte needs especially for being own almost $100 mil
