NOP — UTA, two players + three picks

Post#1 » by SkyHook » Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:31 pm

NOP trades Dyson Daniels + 2024 pick #21

UTA trades Keyonte George + 2024 picks #10 & #32

Pelicans opt for an offensive minded lead guard (with an additional year of team control), move up into the top ten of the draft and acquire a high second.

Jazz prioritize defense at the point of attack at the cost of moving back in the upcoming draft.

If Daniels has more value than George I don't think it's a ton. Let's just let Keyonte develop and make pur pick at 10. If he doesn't work out I'm sure the pick at 10 has just as good of a chance as Dyson. I also think 10 > Dyson pretty easily, so I have us trading the two best assets. This is not to say that I wouldn't like to have Dyson, I would, especially as a backcourt partner to George. I'd strongly consider Kessler for Daniels.

I'm good with letting George just develop.

This is an overpay for Daniels.

I have the Pelicans declining. If the Jazz are really looking to upgrade with No. 10, the should talk to the Bulls about Coby White.

For me it's not about the current trade value. Daniels had the best 2 man pairing with Zion despite being undeveloped offensively because of his elite man defense.

12% usage, 5 APG & 30% 3pt shooting has his value nowhere it should be in trade so NO's would be selling low based in usage.

Daniels was ranked 2nd in d-Lebron this past season at 20, he just needs to get to a point he can punish teams for leaving him open to be able to start, for which he has shown progression. Other NO's fans don't agree with my take & are willing to throw him in trade for an expiring Vet in order to win next season. My view on the situation is a little more long term, lol

I think Keyonte George has some legitimate All Star potential, so I wouldn't trade him for a defensive guard who hasn't shown he can shoot well enough to stay on the floor in his first two years in the league. Plus, the picks are going the wrong way.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like it was equally loathed by fans of both teams.

As a Dyson truther, it's interesting how polarizing people are on his potential and value. Fun fact- he's younger than the Thompson twins and drafted a year earlier than them.

Elite defender, great rebounder for his size. High IQ connector on offense, fun floater game. Jump shot and overall confidence on offense is the growth area, of course. Coach Willie Green doesn't give big minutes or roles to young players. Hopefully DD gets more of a chance next season.

This OP trade is a fun thought, but how often to teams give up on their drafted young potential players they've invested development into (that have shown good flashes)? And if they do, it seems like it would be for veteran upgrades and not other young potential players.

Yeah, I'm obviously a fan of his game and calculated that he's worth (what to me) is an aggressive offer.

Very good trade. Fair for both sides.
I don't believe in George. His best-case scenario is a sixth man in a good team.
Jazz is in desperate need of defense.
Check all the boxes for me. Well done.

Nope. This trade is trash. Key is worth more than Daniels and no need to explain that 10 and 32 are worth more than 21.

I don't like it for the Pels. Would rather keep Daniels.

sitting on the East Coast...I thought Keyonte was really good. Daniels too, if limited, but that pick exchange is pretty significant.

Just reviewing some old proposals. What a difference a year makes.
