Absolutely cannot give up that first. We should get some kind of disabled player exception to add something. I do think Jrue makes some sense but id rather wait for Dame to recoup some value after he starts playing again.

There is no guarantee that Dame comes back from this injury. Durant was 31 when he tore his and it took him 18 months to come back. Age (35) and position (PG) work even further against Dame. Sadly, there is a good chance he doesn't play again or does not recoup his value when he comes back as he could lose a tremendous amount of athleticism, agility and bounce.

Re: BOS (save $)- MIL (keep Giannis)- UTA (rebuild)
I was curious to know how much the Celtics might save from the 4th scenario (ship out Jrue and Porzingis with Sexton and John Collins in return). The salary savings is $17.1M.
However, after entering the information into an online calculator using $189M luxury tax level for 2025/26, team salary of $227.9M before trade and $210.8M after trade, the luxury tax goes down from $175M to $78.775M for a savings of $96M in tax alone ($113M total).
The 4th scenario also gets the Celtics within a few million of going below the 2nd Apron as well, which should be easily doable with an additional trade (or Hauser for Svi as part of this trade).
Edit: New calculation with Hauser for Svi in trade to get the Celtics below the 2nd apron= $23.47M salary savings, tax reduced from $175M to $47.3M, total savings = $151.2M.
It might cost the Celtics more than just the 2026 pick.

I don’t disagree, but that doesn’t mean a post Giannis first should be in the mix for this deal. Can’t do it

Two questions (for all Bucks fans)-
1. If the Bucks want to keep Giannis (reports are that the owner and GM do), and in so doing must make the team competitive, how do they do that without using at least the 2031 pick? Would 2031 and 2032 pick swaps make more sense to you? Eating $112M in salary and arranging two starter level replacements is probably going to cost at least one of these two options.
2. How is Jrue's contract (3 yrs $104.4M) worse than Dame's (2 yrs $112.6M)?
Dame will 100% not be playing next season. It is unlikely that he plays his final season, but if he does it is nearly certain that he will not be the same player that he was. It's just the reality of an Achilles tear in a mid-30's NBA PG. Jrue, on the other hand, is expected to play all three years. Aside from being $8.2M cheaper, how is being able to play and contribute not even additional value?

1) giannis and scrubs can win 50 games if they play hard and stay healthy + the east is WIDE open
2) that 3rd year is brutal and would stop us from having a max slot for a FA to potentially pair with Giannis in two years -- Dame was still really good before he got hurt, maybe he can recover -- why the hell give up a 1st????
bonus fact that 95% of NBA fans would not know: Jrue is older than Dame

Using the pick might be in play, but not for Jrue which should have to have picks coming with him, doesn’t make sense. Dame is better in the sense he represents a monster expiring after next season. That’s why it is more valuable than Jrue to the Bucks.
Kuzma/Pat C make almost the same as Jrue and offers a lot of salary relief for Boston. Using those two and Boston throwing back a first to Bucks makes infinitely more sense for everyone IMO
