I think they're underestimating Ellis, he's literally the perfect archetype alongside Luka... Maybe because he's more effective than gimmicky?
In my opinion, the LAKERS are a better team after this trade.
After this, the Kings should turn DDR into a defensive leader (Jrue?). Overall, I like the trade. Maybe some SRP, but overall, I like the trade.

Yeah they are strongly underestimating Keon Ellis. They act as if he's just a thrown in, which is not the case. He's quality 3 and D level guard who's shot 43% shooter from the 3pt line on 4 attempts and also has averaged 1.5 steals per game in 25 minutes. That's not nothing and I wouldn't if be surprised Ellis goes for a late 1st round pick by himself. Malik Monk also more established and athletic than Austin Reaves, The Lakers would become a better team by a good margin, while the Kings would get worse. People are also forget that Austin Reaves has had a history of performing poorly in the playoffs and is due for a major payday next summer. We are talking about atleast 30-35 million dollars per year if not even more than that. We also don't know if this season for a fluke or if he's actually a yearly 20/5/5 guy. For those reasons, I don't see how Austin even has trade value around the NBA. If I'm the Kings Front Office and the Lakers Front Office asked for both Malik Monk and Keon Ellis for Austin Reaves, I would simply hang up the phone since I know the Lakers don't have the assets to bridge in value between Austin Reaves and getting both Malik Monk/Keon Ellis.

Maybe just Rui for Ellis+Jonas+SRP?
Maybe I’m way off on Ellis but I pegged him as way more valuable than that. Career 43% from 3, 3.4 stocks/36 last year, 1.9 BPM (2nd on SAC), tenacious defender, low TOV player. We’ve seen his archetype absolutely shine in the playoffs recently, so maybe Reaves is an overpay but the Lakers need one of their own Caruso/Dort/Holiday/Nembhard type players next to Luka and a guy like that could be more valuable than Reaves in the PS for them
Well I had Ellis worth Rui effectively.
I think Ellis os good but also Rui is good.
I like both players but the Kings simply cannot afford to get worse defensively and Ellis is cheaper. They really need to get the Mavs to take DeRozan off their hands and that should be the priority.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.
