POR takes on one of the biggest dummies in the league.

Kuzma and Grant suck balls at this point, but at least Kuzma's contract is a year shorter, significantly less against the cap and actually gets smaller next year. Portland has to pay something. No get out of jail free cards.

I mean its obvious the theory is the Bucks would believe Grant offers them more than Kuzma. They could be wrong, but they can't really just run it back with Kuz and injured Dame and think well this will keep Giannis happy.

Grant had a bad year. Kuzma was worse and is one of the most selfish players in the league to boot. I'd 100% gamble on that swap as the Bucks.

Getting Giannis for the long haul could all depend on 2027. Dame and Kuzma come off the books and they will finally have a decent amount of tradable picks and assets. Sacrificing that for the corpse of a guy who was once a pretty good role player wouldn't be prudent.

Will GA cool his heels for 2 years in his prime for the chance to possibly improve?

He might, but it seems unlikely.

Man, I genuinely couldn’t remember who won because my mind was trying to identify an actual NBA player. I must really only think of him in February.

Portland likely accepts this deal. As much as I believe they are too attached to the current "core," I do not believe they assign core status to Grant.

I do agree with jackcronus8 that Milwaukee should play hardball here to get more out of Portland. The Blazers not only shed a year of Grant's deal, but they save many millions here (Connaughton and Kuzma are owed just over half of what Grant is due) that can be invested elsewhere. The Blazers risk being nudged out of the deal if they don't give something. (And yes, I realize they are unlikely to pay a hefty price to move Grant. I just don't support the swap from Milwaukee's POV without some incentive.)

I'm absolutely not willing to give up an unprotected 1st for the obligation to pay jerami grant 36.5mil in 27-28

27 is the only summer we might have a chance of pairing a max player alongside giannis (we're Milwaukee tho, so I'm not delusional enough to truly expect that to happen)

top-14 protected at the minimum, portland should be happy with a sh*tty 2nd if we're being honest

#47 in this draft?
