Surely Utah could get a better return for Sexton and Collins? I don't see how Miami wouldn't take this and run.

I don't think we can. It is all expiring money and a higher first than I think a team will offer for either player individually.

Because they can’t trust that the other teams they’re colluding with will actually hold to it and won’t just take a really, really good deal that makes their team better

Mostly, it’s just that every team has a responsibility to consider anything that makes their team better. If they stand firm colluding with others, then that kind of means that they might be taking lesser offers in the meantime in order to try and punish 2nd apron teams. And there’s no guarantee they’ll get to reap the benefits of holding firm at any point down the line.

That feels like a prisoners dilemma, only with more parties involved. Thats asking for a lot of (silent) cooperation.
