Pels' offer: #7 pick, Herb, '26 MIL/NOP 1st (best of), '27 MIL/NOP swap, '28 1st (top-4 prot.?), Hawkins, Matkovic
for
JJJ, Konchar (salary dump)

Grizz would start with demanding Murphy, but that seems like a lateral move for Pels. Picks negotiable, but framework is #7, Herb ++

Pels pick a direction and go for it, still have CJ/Olynyk contracts to trade to reshuffle the depth around the Zion/Murphy/JJJ core.

Grizz reset trusting their development program to hit on the 7th pick, add a stellar defender on a great contract, and accumulate assets.

That's a very interesting proposition.

The question is: If JJJ can become a free agent in 2026 and SAS can offer him a maximum contract, is it really worth giving up an extremely valuable asset if there's a chance of getting him for free in a year's time?

I guess it depends on Memphis offering him a maximum extension this summer and whether JJJ wants to stay.

However, there will be many teams with cap space in the 2026 free agency period. If JJJ wants to leave and choose his next team freely, he should not sign anything this summer.

I think New York would offer either Bridges or Anunoby. I think the money works straight up for Bridges and Memphis would need additional salary for Anunoby.

Probably not enough, but I’d offer Pöltl, Dick, 9th overall, 2027 unprotected.

Downgrade from JJJ to Pöltl, but him and Edey can split minutes at the 5 and be one of the best center rotations. Does a top 10 pick, unprotected pick, and Dick make up the difference?

Quickley - Shead
Barrett - Walter
Ingram - Agbaji
Barnes - Mogbo
JJJ - 39th pick

I really like that lineup. Lacking front court depth, but overall that should be a really good team. Maybe they follow up by moving RJ to get another front court player. I would consider adding more, but not more to get JJJ.

Filler and a bunch of picks/young guys from Utah is the best we can do that makes any sense.
I bought a boat.

How about this from CHA:

Mark Williams + 4 + Nurk for JJJ

Either let Nurk expire or try to flip him.

Spurs should look to add him if they had the chance, him and Wemby would be fun as hell, defensive monsters, both with a 3pt range... but hard to see the direction Memphis will take

In the second apron era I do wonder if these types of players will be worth full maxes by the time the dust settles.

They will always be. They will just be cycled around to teams who can afford them.

"Worth" and "get" are two different things. Probably no to the former and yes to the latter.

I think Memphis is going to expect a Mikal Bridges/Rudy Gobert level return for JJJ.

And what’s funny is, we all laugh about how big of an overpay each of those trades was - and we still haven’t seen the highest variance part of the trade play out (future picks) - but both teams are conference finals level teams.

Memphis has the right pieces in place with Ja/Bane/3+D wings.

The difficult part is JJJ's offense really pops when he is a floor-spacing 5 but his defense requires a strong post/rebounding presence.

The same thing is true for Towns. He requires a defensive rim protector and anchor but his offense truly warps the floor as a 5 who can shoot and drive vs the slower footed 7-footers.

For Memphis, their offensive engine of Ja/Bane hasn't been healthy for consecutive seasons, and the questions around Ja are going to continue in the minds of many until he proves otherwise.

Totally agree with this... he is a defensive version of Kat... slightly more athletic
