Perhaps San Antonio prefers to see out their picks, but if your assessment of their needs on offense are correct, Lauri is the perfect fit on that end.

last season, Lauri only ranked in the 52nd percentile in spot up shooting. On the Jazz, Sensabaugh, Filipowski, Sexton, Mykhailiuk, and Eubanks were all better. He was in the 73rd percentile the year before but that's hardly elite. He was only in the 61st percentile in off-screen shooting

and, he was under 52% in eFG rate in catch & shoot. I count 7 Jazz players who were better

no doubt he's a good shooter, probably bordering on elite for his position. But by the same position gauge, he's a weak rebounder, an infrequent faclitator, and a poor rim protector. And frankly, a lot of good shooters are paid considerably less than 48M/year

Last season is not a good barometer of his play for a lot of reasons. Other players on the team may have shot better, yes, but they are not better shooters. We also played Lauri at small forward next to Kessler and Collins. He is a better rebounder than 6 per game if played at power forward.

well, he's a 7' player with a career rebound rate of 12.5%, a career assist rate of 7.5%, and a career blocked shot rate of 1.4%. None of those are good numbers for a 7 footer. He's a good 3 point shooter and generally has been an efficient overall shooter/scorer. Not a good defender though. But he's really not elite at anything, at least not anything sustained. 48-49M/ year for 4 more years is way too much money
