Dang godaddy those are terrible. Barnes and Ja have similar value and KD is more name than anything at this point. At 37 and serious injury concerns I would not trade our starting backcourt and a top 10 pick in this draft. A draft that is supposed to be stronger. Ingram has his own injury concerns too. To trust our starting forward spots to that is a big no. KD is not worth mortgaging the future especially giving away youth and a high pick

Ja had a much higher peak/ceiling than Barnes. debatable how much more Ja is worth though.

I dont think this is mortgaging our future at all when we control most of our future picks still

Barnes (corner stone being built around) and two other quality starters AND draft assets for a 37 year old KD and frankly an immature Ja who shoots poorly?? Absolutely not. I want no part of Ja. He can put up a high light but I am not interested in him being a leader on this team. Plus he is due a big contract soon.

a) Ja shoots better than barnes
b) Morant is cost controlled at ~25% of the cap for next 3 years
c) KD is an allstar, RJ and IQ are not

Barnes is much more versatile, vastly better defensively. He is under contract so the cost controlled argument means nothing. KD being an all-star means nothing. It's a glorified popularity contest. His all-star status doesn't speak to fit, contract, timeline. Anything. Weak weak argument

Grizzlies Receive
RJ Barrett or Immanuel Quickley (their choice)
Ja'Kobe Walter
Jonathan Mogbo
9th Pick (2025)
2026 1st Round Pick (Swap - TOR)
2027 1st Round Pick (TOR)
2028 1st Round Pick (Swap - TOR)
2029 1st Round Pick (TOR)

Raptors Receive
Ja Morant

Why for Memphis?
If the Desmond Bane trade signals the beginning of a rebuild, a Top 10 pick, two future 1sts and two swaps, a floor-raising starting wing or guard, and two prospects is a solid place to start. There isn't much reporting on if they would go this route or what the desired return would be in this scenario, but my guess is they would prefer youth and picks.

Why for Toronto?
The Raptors need a player who can get two feet in the paint using their own dribble. Is this a perfect fit? No. Ja Morant's shooting leaves a lot to be desired and he's not a great POA defender. That said, he's an elite driver based on frequency and efficiency. Once Ja Morant is here, the other of Quickley and Barrett is moved. Aim would be...

Ja Morant / Gradey Dick / Brandon Ingram / Scottie Barnes / Jakob Poeltl as the starting five.

Hard to see Masai going for Morant with the character issues/baggage. Ja Morant has the tools to be a top 10-15 player but he needs a coach that isn't Darko, it's not a jab at Darko it's just Morant needs a Pat Riley, Popovich, Spo etc type of coach. Value isn't bad but I honestly don't see Ja being thrilled to play for a Raptors team that isn't great post trade.

Honestly I could see Houston or Sacramento as better fits. Houston only if they miss on Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo
