New Orleans / Miami

New Orleans outgoing

Dejounte Murray
Jose Alvarado
NOP/MIL '26 1st

Miami outgoing

Terry Rozier
Jaime Jaquez Jr.
MIA/MEM '26 2nd

New Orleans lets Rozier play point guard while CJM plays shooting guard. Jaquez Jr. is a good role player. The 2026 second is an asset.

Miami lets Murray rehab a year while Alvarado and company play point guard. The 2026 first is an asset.

Are you actually a Pelicans fan? Nothing the Heat are giving up here are worth anything close to ether the Pelicans Pick or the Bucks pick next year, even if Giannis stays on that team.

For me, the trade assumes that Murray is a bad contract and Pels are paying Alvarado and the pick to get off of him and his injury.
The issue is then the Heat are never in a tank mode, so I expect them to not want to be holding the Murray bag.
Also Pelicans probably are not good enough just yet to make a move like this. they are more in the position to take the injured player with pick attached.

Miami could survive Murray’s recovery using Herro/Mitchell/Alvarado. Think Murray/Herro could work, even expecting Murray to never get back to what some remember him as..

Scary Terry and CJM backcourt would lead to a great pick for Miami…

I’d think there could be a deal here, but OP value is really bad for NOP.

Can we just let Murray and Herb Jones be our guards instead?
