Minny-hou-phx
Minny out: Rudy, Donte, Conley
Minny in: Houston package??
Rockets out: package??
Rockets in: KD, Allen
Suns out: KD, Allen
Suns in: Rudy, Donte, Conley
Minny: KD doesn't want to be there but maybe they can still get in on the KD trade. I am really not familiar with what Houston would offer. My first thought is valvleet, green, adams. Maybe someone can tell me what makes sense.
Rockets: simply put they get KD.
Suns: they get the anchor down low in Rudy. DD gives depth and insurance for a potential Beal injury. Conley is the steady hand PG.

Not sure how to offer you much valuable feedback with so much missing here. But I do not see Minny paying for KD only to get Houston stuff. This would only set Minny further back after b2b final fours which feels wrong directionally.

Re: Minny-hou-phx
I would be unhappy with Rudy/DDV/Conley straight up for KD. Allen himself has positive value so PHX would still be owed IMO

Re: Minny-hou-phx
If the current reporting is to be believed (which there might be pieces of truth but its probably not the whole truth), Phoenix finds the Houston offer underwhelming and seemingly prefers what Minnesota has put out there -- whether thats because its more win-now or more value, not really sure. But given that, why would Minnesota be interested in the same stuff that Phoenix finds less desirable?

Re: Minny-hou-phx
I think people are underrating Gobert the regular season performer. He was the defensive player of the year two years ago and propelled MN to the #1 defense, by far. And he didn’t decline this regular season, the defense around him did, but MN was still one of the top defenses in the league. His on/off numbers were the best on the Wolves (I think). Playoff Rudy, much more questionable.
All that said, MN might be willing to move Gobert/DDV, but it won’t be for Jalen Green, who happens to play the same position as Ant.

Re: Minny-hou-phx
There might be the basis of a three way trade,
- PHX apparently wants the best win now big man player to replace KD, and Gobert (or Randle) are likely the best fit (even though they are not the most valuable)
- HOU could add Durant, who wants to be there, and get their young players an experienced star scorer.
- MIN wants Durant, but he is less valuable there if he refuses to extend, and is only a one year rental.
Each team may have pieces that are more valuable elsewhere (though win-now MIN seems reliant on Gobert), so that makes the potential for a trade that all three can improve. It seems to me that HOU could make an offer for Gobert or Randle (once he extends), to make their package for PHX more appealing, if they can pay MIN enough to do the deal.
I would add that the deal might need a fourth team. If HOU wants to give up win-later assets, perhaps they could spin them through a rebuilding team to get MIN a better fitting win-now piece? And a rebuilding team might be able to add additional payroll relief, particularly if the trade is completed before the new season gets here, as PHX seems to prefer. For example, BRK with Claxton, if MIN is giving up Gobert?

I guess my question is Minny looking to make a move in general or was this all just about KD. KD doesn't want to go there so are they just staying as is. They may need a shake up given they couldn't get over the hill to the finals the last couple years. Does Houston offer those pieces? Or do they look elsewhere and just pull themselves completely out of anything to do with KD

Re: Minny-hou-phx
I'm highly skeptical that there is a trade package of players that Houston would be willing to offer that makes any sense for Minnesota. I seriously doubt there is any Wolves interest in VanVleet, Brooks, or Green and without them there is no way to make the money work.

I understand why you think that, and in reality you are correct that TC, (the Wolves POBO/Gm,) will not do it. That said, I actually love the idea of Fred VanVleet in Minnesota. He has been a target of mine for years. Steven Adams as a backup C isn’t bad for us either. I would want a young talent or two thrown in, but as a barebone frame work, I would be willing to talk about sending out Gobert, DDV, and 31. Again this needs a lot of details worked out, I have doubts about the cap legality, and contract situations matter. But, around 50% of the Wolves fan base hates trading for KD but would be very fine with being involved in the KD trade if it met our needs. Especially with a draft coming up and assuming we keep 17 to draft our next starting C.

Re: Minny-hou-phx
A) Suns cannot aggregate contracts.
B) Rockets are having a hard enough time just matching Durant's salary without giving up more than he is worth. Adding Allen's $17 M to that makes it impossible.
C) Minnesota wants Durant.

VanFleet, Adams (can he be traded?), pick #10 to Minny.

I don't believe adams can even get moved until mid December now after the extension.
Thats also a big nope from this Minnesota fan. Pay the cost for Durant (and apparently add in some other stuff to houston?) only to end up with vanvleet and 10?
