Denver/OKC Swap picks

Post#1 » by youngthegiant » Sat Jun 21, 2025 6:37 am

Denver Trades: 2031 1st rd pick unprotected

OKC Trades: #24, Denver's 2027 and 2029 1st rd picks(both currently top 5 protected)

Why: OKC moves some less valuable picks for an unprotected pick from Denver. Similar to what Phoenix did with their pick, turning it into 3 1sts. Denver gets a little more trade flexibility. If taking #24 is too much Denver could also take some 2nd rounders back, but main idea is for them to get their 2027 and 2029 1sts.

Wouldn't do it if I am OKC.

Their window is open now...would much rather have 3 picks the next 5 drafts vs 1 in 7 years. Those 3 picks give them much more flexibility. If they don't want to use #24 this year, there will ne a team willing to trade a future 1st+ for it. Keep the flexibility in case you need it.

Would Denver do it for 24 and 2019 Denver first back ? All 3 seems kind of expensive .

Presti has the agility to overpay, but this is too much of an overpayment imo. Those picks aren’t strongly protected and 2029 is far enough away to offer real variance as is.

I think they push for a distant swap added in. But not sure that’s really enough.

OKC doesn't have roster spots. 2031 Denver 1st for #15 and #24 makes sense.

It doesn’t make sense for Denver . That’s their last tradable asset

Yeah I don’t see both future picks in this.

I would however be good with

2027 and 2029 1sts (top 5 prot), #24

For

2030 swap unp, 2031 1st

On the condition that OKC can swap with any pick they may acquire later or their own

I like this general idea for both teams. I think OKC is overpaying a little bit though.

Yea I think swaps verbiage have to be locked at the point of trade so it’s swaps with picks that both OKC and Denver have now at best .

Otherwise nothing to stop OKC for trading for assume 28th-30th just to trade with Denver pick that year .

The thunder can get better future picks from other teams since they lack roster spots. They can also draft international players who will not be on the roster.
