I have always thought it fairly unlikely that the Cs duck the Apron this year. I have always thought and still do that they would certainly like to shed some salary this coming year and drop a tier or two in repeater brackets, but the real target is ducking the tax in 26/27 to reset the repeater and hence the Apron penalties.
The Jrue trade has done most of the work for both, definitely for 26/27.
I’d look hard at trading Simmons for a guy that makes 10 million less or so but on a longer term deal. I could see the Cs keeping him though. The Jrue trade opened up a lot of possibilities at least in my Myopia.

I was reluctant at first on the apron, but came around to it just making too much sense to duck it. I hung my hat on the don't fear the repeater thing. I'm leaning keep Simons, see if he learns D. Trade KP/Hauser get back like a Clarke or similar salary, duck the apron.
Sign KP back for MLE next summer. 8-)

I am totally fine with trading KP as long as we get a useful guy back and shed some 25/26 Salary. I don’t want to trade a pick and don’t think they will need to. Clarke idea makes some sense.

I personally would never trade Barnes for KP unless I was being compensated. However, a Spurs fan proposed the bones of the deal (Barnes/Malaki for KP) in a different thread.

Well that was my question and I’ll trust those guys to know their team’s needs.

Just seems like they don’t have a replacement for Barnes and KP imo could be great there he’s a different player altogether. Unless they want to play stretch5s alongside Sochan as an interior four which I could see the logic there in theory.

Just curious what the SA people thought.

Barnes is pretty key since he was the best/most consistent shooter on the team, but I'd still do this deal. I'd start the season with Sochan playing at the 4, but you could also slide Champagnie into that slot to get more shooting. Champagnie just can't handle the ball... at all... but that's probably not a big deal with the Spurs projected lineups.
