Grizz Dump -- Nets Jump

Post#1 » by psman2 » Wed Jun 25, 2025 3:34 pm

Mem Out: #16/Cole Anthony (1/13.1m)
Mem In: #22

BKN Out: #22 / 13.1 capspace
BKN In: #16/Cole Anthony (1/13.1m)

Memphis dumps to clear the space to give JJJ his raise and the Nets improve one of their picks and if Cole shoots well likely can net then a 2nd at the deadline as an expiring. This would be an on the clock trade to see if anyone has fallen for Memphis or someone is there the Nets want to jump up for.

Other variations:

16 to 19 to dump Konchar.
Or 16 to 26 to dump Clarke.
16 for 22/26 and then Memphis finds another team's MLE/TPE to dump into instead of the Nets.

value seems fine. Nets space is starting to dwindle though. Always a chance they want to save it for something potentially bigger before settling for this today though?

Maybe, but the imo the Nets are really going to want to trade up or out tonight as much as possible. Less options for them and other teams if this is done post draft. Maybe just the 22/26 for 16 and Memphis dumps on another team but Nets still have a lot of space.

Maybe we complete the circle and send 22 and Cole to the Hawks. I did like Clarke to the Hawks as the 3rd big there before they got KP, but even now Clarke could play a good role there with all the KP/JJ missed games and can play with all 3 guys in the frontcourt.

Great idea from the Memphis perspective

If Brooklyn likes someone at #16, they are incentivized to pay (or even over-pay) with their wealth of picks to move up. If Memphis isn't the partner at #16, maybe Minnesota is at #17 or Washington at #18.

Pointless trade for Brooklyn, who want to consolidate with picks.

I think the value is right in OP though. But makes more sense as 16 for 22/26 with Brooklyn/Memphis finding a team willing to trade their MLE (Cole) for 26… Washington, NOP, Chicago..

But I would think Utah does 16 and Cole for 21?

They’re tanking and don’t need to use their MLE realistically, right?

The nets should be trying to sell cap space. Nets should be trying to improve their picks. Nets should also try to consolidate their picks. So they accomplish 2 out 3 things they want to do but it is pointless? I guess it doesn’t matter what Memphis wants here, just that the Nets don’t get everything they want in one trade. But I already had 16 for 22/26 as an option regardless.

Sure if they can consolidate and move up that is likely their 1st choice, but calling this type of trade pointless is imo pointless.

As a Nets fan who follows my team closely, this is the most realistic trade, fair trade I've seen here. Good job.

I do not think the Nets would do this for this small of a jump after already eating into their cap space.
