Highest 2025 2nd for Olivier-Maxence Prosper?

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Thu Jun 26, 2025 3:44 pm

As the title suggests, is there a team willing to pay a second tonight for Olivier-Maxence Prosper? He hasn't shown much hence why I'm asking if a 2nd is even plausible, but he was picked 24th just 2 years ago and most mocks had him as a first-rounder, so maybe a change of scenery could help.

This feels closer than getting one for sure. He makes not much more than a vet min, so maybe there is a tanking team that wants to look at a big athletic wing for free, but also maybe not. He showed flashes when Dallas had to play him when all the bigs were hurt, but didn't look like a guy ready to be in a rotation in relevant games.

But because he makes so little, Dallas shouldn't use one of the 2 2nds they owe to dump him. That would be terrible asset management.

We take cash too. Late 1sts that have shown very little years later are usually worthless unless some GM back in the day had fancy for him at draft time and still wants to kick the tires.

I am trying to think of someone in the recent past that was a late pick and played less than a 1000 nba minutes that returned positive value in a stand alone trade?

Prosper and the 2030 Philly second probably gets Dallas a 2nd after 40?

Right, I agreed no team is giving value for him. I just think the savings are so marginal Dallas shouldn't use a 2nd rounder. If a team takes cash and Dallas needs a roster spot, absolutely.

Yea if Dallas has to pay anything to trade him, forget it. I dont think he's that bad where he has to be "dumped/unloaded"

I would take him for free on the Kings. He's been bad, but its worth a shot off the bench. Kings badly lacking forwards and have a bunch of spots to fill. Rather this than another doug mcderrmott

You’d have to find a team that really likes him for some reason…
The Celtics paid a second for Jaden Springer a year or so back…maybe 2 years.
Similar but not the same situation.

I'd do that for Keyonte, if daoneandonly wants to circle back to that. Or for #53.

No team is going to pay a second round pick, the best you can hope is that someone is willing to take him into cap space / exception for nothing so that you save money / create roster spot.

I’m really low on Prosper and Keyonte… like really low.

But if Utah agrees to take Powell (they should) then I’d do that deal.

Throw in whatever amount of cash Dalllas can send out and ask for 53? Asking too much maybe?

(OMP for George isn’t legal. Include Powell leaves Dallas enough room under second apron to fill it with a normal vet min.. not Utahs problem, but is Dallas’)

$4MM to cover Powell's salary and it works for me.

Feels like DAL inevitably makes some sort of trade and Prosper into an exception somewhere for like a protected 2nd seems like a good add on to make the math work on the hard cap stuff for either DAL or their trade partner.
