Memphis - Chicago

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:24 pm

Memphis trade: KCP, Clarke
Chicago trade: Williams, Carter

Why for Memphis: take on long term salary to create room for JJJ's reneg
Why for Chicago: take on more present term money to dump williams' contract. KCP and Clarke are upgrades on court as well

Does Memphis benefit from dumping salary now?

I feel like they need future flexibility.

We only need to move Konchar 6 million to get Jaren money and possibly move Huff 2 million.

We not trading KCP right now and if we move Clarke it will be an upgrade.

I don't think the best way to accomplish that is by taking on long-term salary.

I think we just pay to move off Konchar and flip Cole for a smaller bad contract and we are in the neighborhood of what JJJ will likely take in a raise. We will know ahead of time what he is willing to take so they will be no guess work. I liked PWill in the past but likely only a 20% he lives up to that long contract.

yeah got to be better ways than this. And I think I am in the minority here, but I don't think KCP is seen by the league as completely washed. So I think you could move him for a 2 year deal for less money or maybe even an expiring if that was the route you wanted to go.

but I expect him to be a major rotation player for the Grizzlies next season. I think they saw his inclusion as more than just needed salary filler. I imagine they think he helps.
