Re: (KATZ) Schroder to sac
Sacramento fans will probably have a pleasant surprise with Schröder. Despite of what his numbers tell you, he is a winner. He does make a lot of winning plays and he really knows how to run a team.
Sacramento need his skillset badly. Detroit was a much improved team after trading for him. He will be missed in Detroit, even tho most fans don't understand how good he was for us.
I am not a fan of Monk's game, but without Beasley, I understand why we are likely adding him. I don't think adding both Monk and LeVert is good. I hate Detroit offseason so far, but this Front Office alread proved they're competent, I just think they were dealt a **** hand this time.

If this goes down as expected, I think it’s a win-win. Sac needs a natural pg to go with their wings. It’s not going to fix the team, but that’s not a realistic expectation for MLE signings. Detroit needs someone who can play with Cade and Ivey in an 3 guard rotation and space the floor. That’s more how monk should be used.

If I'm being honest, for what the Kings need, yes.
What we saw last year was that when Monk-LaVine-Demar were on the court together it was an absolute disaster. Now I'm not saying Schroder is great, but at a bare minimum he's a better defender than Monk.
That said, fitting pieces around LaVine/Demar is the 1st mistake. Even if you are stuck with these guys because you can't trade them, you don't have to build around them.
Yeah this makes sense, especially the bold. It feels like the Kings are stuck in a bit of a doom loop where they keep making bad decisions to try and fix something that can't be fixed instead of just acknowledging that this core has run its course and doing a hard reset/rebuild.

Re: (KATZ) Schroder to sac

I’m glad you said this because from the moment the “start Monk at PG” movement began I was cringing. He’s NOT a PG. he is an undersized combo guard who seems to get hurt at just the most critical times for his team throughout his career - mostly because he is undersized and throws his body/athleticism out there at 100,000 MPH all the time. It’s not a route to a long career.
Schroeder is actually a true lead guard. He also is a far better shooter who doesn’t need many shots to get his offense, finds his in the flow of the game and isn’t prone to a lot of “gambling” type mistakes that Monk makes constantly through overplaying situations. He’s also a better natural ball handler than Monk. And a MUCH better and smarter defender.
Monk’s best role is always sixth man because he’s all about offense.

Re: (KATZ) Schroder to sac
I’ll add that most of the people on our board have been acknowledging that two of DDR/Monk/Levine absolutely MUST be moved this offseason. That group just doesn’t work together at all.
My personal desires order is how I listed them. I was optimistic about DDR coming in last year but what I saw is exactly why prior fanbases told us he wouldn’t work. He just plain is a selfish player who doesn’t do what you need in the current NBA. Because of this he handicaps the development of your young core players and restricts the effectiveness of your hub All NBA Center. Monk had a very obvious (to me) attitude shift after the Fox trade that translated to the court. That tells me what I need to know.

So we moved valanciunas to get the capspace that we needed to sign Schroeder outright without the sign and trade. So getting us Schroeder only cost us Valnaciunas. I can live with that, I don't love it but it's a lot better than sending out monk for the same thing.

I just don’t think Dennis is the answer to any particular question and his tendency to get cross with someone on the team or org has him as a do not sign for me.

Not exactly. We had enough to sign him without trading Val. We went from having 5 million buffer under the tax, to 10 million. This is signaling more things to come, but I wouldn't be half surprised if this is just Viveks way to save 5 million more.
