I didn't think Kennard could still pull 11 million. I like him there but seems like a lot coming off a not so great year. But one year, so really no harm.

Always liked him more than I should. Shooter with size and some playmaking. Nice add to the bench and as psman2 says, the overpay doesn't really matter for one year.

Top 150 in RAPM last 3 years (73, 131 and 113 respectively).

Mamba also likes him (two top 100 appearances in the last 3 seasons).

Gives them some great shooting and positional flexibility here. Him and NAW make a good bench backcourt where they both can handle the rock some.

It’s a one year deal. Either he still a contributor by trade deadline or try to work out a trade I guess ?

Yeah, his reluctance to shoot has always been disappointing and kept him on the move, but he is the best catch and shoot player in the league...

Until next time!

What do you think about your 1st round pick?

Don’t get me started on this one. Everybody in Memphis is happy. But I was too excited about Smart, now I prefer to be cautious with my assessment and expectations. The kid has all tools to become the one. It is now totally up to him. He has all trust and support from the franchise and fans. Delivery is his responsibility.

Don't Kennard, Alexander-Walker, and Daniels play the same position? How do they split the playing time?

He is super skilled but very passive. I had so much hope when we drafted him.

They can get minutes at the 1 and the 3 too.

NAW and Daniels are both elite POA defenders.

NAW can guard the quickest 1's to the smaller-mid-sized 3's.

Daniels can guard up better than NAW and does a great job with his hands in passing lanes. He isn't really a shut-down defender, more of an off-ball impactful guard/smaller wing.

Kennard can guard 1-2 well enough against most teams. His main minutes will be without Trae as their other Point Guard is a 6'7" Krejci, who guards 2-3.

The important thing here is NAW and Daniels have incredible positional versatility.
