Simons is meh, Sexton has peaked, and Powell is 32yo. Reaves is 5 years younger. I would absolutely pay more for Reaves than any of those other guys. I know you're biased in every single Lakers thread, but geez man.

I would not pay more for Austin Reaves than any of those guys I mentioned. He has the same strengths and weaknesses. Hasn't performed in the playoffs since 2023. What makes him different from anyone else outside of being fan favourite in LA and the fact it's very likely he will have by far the worst contract out of anyone mentioned by this time next year? Based on the new CBA and guys who share the same skill have been massively devalued, there's no argument to suggest that Austin Reaves is going viewed is anything than decent salary filler in a trade if the Lakers were to seriously put him on the trading block.

What makes him different? I'll bite:

- Age
- Availability
- Regularly developing

Most teams (that have a need for a player like him, not the Hawks, for instance) would absolutely value him more than Sexton or Simons. I can guarantee you Reaves would have returned more than Jrue, for example. You don't have to agree, and that's fine, but let's also not pretend that pretty much every single Lakers trade thread contains at least a post from you being incredibly negative and biased. Not that I think all of the threads people create here where the Lakers are involved are free of bias or are excellent trade suggestions, but it would be nice if you tried to see the flipside sometimes as well.

Lakers will be locked in with a Luka+Markkenen tandem eating up 60-65% of the cap (assuming Luka resigns). Lauri isn’t good enough to be a #2 of a contender to justify the outgoing LAL package and to lock up their salary for the next 3-4 years and not be a player in FA.

Reaves trade value is rightly evaluated as being not terribly high, but losing him and Rui (both solid playoff rotational role players) for Lauri is basically both a step backwards in on court talent AND payroll flexibility.

Lakers better off just playing out the season and see where Reaves market is if they decide to resign him. 4yr90m may actually be where it’s at and that’s a very tradeable deal.
