Complicated issue. jbk1234 was pretty spot on with his analysis.

Missing was that expansion is effectively a loan to the existing owners. They get a nice up-front payment, but the product dilutes itself.
Everyone clamors about increased media rights, but ESPN isn't doing amazing. How many people are paying for cable? And they already don't broadcast most NBA games. So, maybe NBAtv? Is that really enough streaming revenue to justify dilution?

As a fan, it would be cool. I miss the I-5 rivalry. But I'd rather have a team in San Diego than Las Vegas. Maybe give them the Clippers name back and rename the current Clippers to whatever Balmer drunkenly comes up with. Not going to happen, but cool in theory.

As a fan, I want them to add 5 more teams. I don't see how it makes sense for the owners though.
