Simons/Hauser/pick for White/Jalen Smith is something I'd love to do as a Celtics fan. Not sure how close it is value wise and what the pick needs to be. Feels like, as of right now, BOS's pick next year is too potentially high to use in a deal for an expiring White but I imagine '27 1st doesn't entice CHI? Not sure how much they like Hauser either, though in theory he could fit well there (or anywhere pretty much - very portable game).

For BOS, assuming they re-sign White, looking ahead to the year after this one when Tatum is back

White / Pritchard
White
Brown
Tatum
(MLE Signing?) / Smith / Queta

The 3 man guard rotation is strong. The wing duo is obviously good if Tatum has a solid recovery. You'd hope that one of Baylor Scheierman (2024, #30 pick), Hugo Gonzalez (2025 #28 pick), or Jordan Walsh (2024 #34 pick) emerges as a decent backup wing. Smith/Queta give them some options for backup center and then they have their MLE too for next year.

I seriously doubt Coby White can get 30M per in open market. Nearly all teams have dried up in cap space. If you're team with cap space, do you want to gamble on an offensive guard. Brooklyn is not gambling on Cam Thomas. Miami has gambled wrongly with Tyler Herro and pays the price. Only Lakers is gambling with Austin Reaves on 30M per contract. If Giddey doesn't get 30M per offer, why would any team do the same with Coby White?

If I’m starting an nba team, I don’t want a starting pg who can’t hold his own as a point of attack defender. That’s just too hard to cover for every night and makes building a championship level roster about impossible. The only way I trade for him to be a starter is if the rest of the roster is set and we already were overflowing with defensive a studs and playmakers.

nah you get someone with a 1st option ceiling first and foremost, and if that person is a PG then PoA defense be damned.

Nope. That’s how to build a treadmill team.

Also, pretty laughable in a conversation about Coby white.

obviously not talking about white.

Is Luka a PoA defender? is Curry? is Kyrie? think they've been on more than just treadmill teams. If someone is elite at other areas then who cares about PoA defense.

Sure, you don't care if it's Luka or Curry. This is Coby White though. The guy is a bench guard.
