Wonder if there's an Alvarado for Watson framework that could interest both teams. Nuggets get playmaking, defensive sparkplug, like a super Compazzo. Pels add athleticism and defensive playmaking off the bench.
Contingencies:
/1/ Can Pels survive backup PG minutes until Murray is cleared to return? Fears likely isnt ready off the bat, and Pels need to get off to a good start of the season. Murray is posting videos of him dunking, so he could return sooner than expected, but still probably not until late November or December at the earliest. Could they sign a backup like Brogdon to hold it down until Murray returns and Fears is ready?
/2/ Would there be a path to re-signing Watson if he shows out, and is it worth it while they have Herb already in place?
/3/ Nuggets may not be interested in Alvarado to his size, questionable playoff viability.
/4/ Could a 3rd team be more interested in Watson, sending a better fitting player to Pels?

I like Alvarado, but I can't see the Nuggets trading Watson to get him. Watson is their backup 3/4 and will probably start whatever games Johnson is injured. Based on the history, Johnson is going to be injured 10+ games. Backup 3/4 is a much higher position of need than a backup PG. And I'm quite sure the Nuggets are excited to see how Watson develops his game this season. There's still a lot of potential upside there.

I see these 2 as pretty similar in value but think their respective teams would rather keep their guy.
MEM keeps SPJ due to Ja's injury and knucklehead history - they need a competent backup PG.
DEN keeps Watson as a lanky, tall, pogo stick defender / finisher which they need more than a backup PG now that Bruce is back (+ Joker is basically the PG and Braun can handle a bit too)
