Cavs and Bulls pt 2

Post#1 » by JJ_PR » Thu Sep 25, 2025 4:47 am

Cavs get: Dalen Terry
Bulls get: Dean Wade

Why?
Cavs add a back-up 3. Hunter is our only true 3 and he has an injury history.
Bulls get a veteran stretch 4 who can mentor their young forwards.

I like this if Chicago wants some mentorship from a player that also doesn't need to be a huge part of their rotation. I wonder if Cleveland can do better, though? Or has Wade really fallen off?

Hard pass from the Cavs end. The Cavs aren't going to trade a player who has shown he can stay on the floor for them in the playoffs for a project. Also, the theme this summer has been to add size off the bench, rather than continue to be undersized when they rotate players in.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Dalen Terry isn't a true 3 either. He's always been a ballhandler with decent assist rates and not a lot else, making him more of a tall/long tweener guard. He's only very slightly taller/longer than Jaylon Tyson or Max Strus, but he's also skinny, so Terry is never going to play "up" well.

Wade is probably closer to a true 3 in that he can guard 2-4, except he can guard the 5 as well.

Terry is also not very good at basketball overall, thus far. Wade definitely has limitations but he also has a role (defensive all-around player at 2-4) that isn't replicated on the team.

I agree. Wade has shown that he's a 3pt threat, he's thin so he's not a great rebounder or shot blocker but he's a good offensive payer. But he can contribute.

Terry has one skill, he hustles, the downside of that is sometimes even after 3-4 years he ends up playing out of control. The thing that has kept him on the bench and deep in the rotation is you can't point to anything he really does consistently well. There are times when he handles and passes the ball well, he gets hot shooting from deep, he's strong on defense, he rebounds , but he hasn't developed in any area where he can be counted on game in game out.

The Bulls do this quickly
