MIL trades: 2032 MIL 1st
UTA trades: 2027 UTA/CLE/MIN 1st (2nd best), 2027 LAL 1st (1-4 protected, otherwise LAL 2nd)
Milwaukee breaks one asset into multiple assets in the hopes of being able to make multiple transactions to improve their roster. Utah swaps lower-variance assets for a higher variance asset.

Unless Giannis is adding real pressure, I think Milwaukee would be better off waiting it out. Or just finding the best piece available for Kuz-+2031 first. Probably just Coby and Patrick Williams, but still better than splitting the high variance asset imo.

Phoenix is not the model you should be copying. I guess if you can steal a guy of Mark Williams' caliber with one like Phoenix did, then you do it, but I think in general you should have moves lined up and just involve Utah when it's time to make the trades.

FWIW my thought was one of these firsts can be attached to Kuzma to get replace him with someone decent, then you have another first for a subsequent trade. But I agree that Phoenix is not a model someone should copy - it just seems that, given their decisions to stretch players, both are similarly desperate and this could make improving the roster around Giannis easier.

Those two firsts just don't project to be anywhere near valuable enough to justify doing this kind of reckless move. I'd imagine that a 2032 unprotected 1st even from a team like OKC is a more valuable singular asset here. I mean, Luka signing the extension already neutered the value of that protected Lakers pick, so the Bucks just seem like they're breaking up a really good asset into two mediocre, even potentially worthless, ones. Value isn't there.

True but some are worth less than others.

I had a hard time determining, too, if this is equal value to what we traded for the Phoenix picks. I agree that it would be reckless, but it could also have some interesting results. Memphis is probably a better target with those three Orlando picks, though!

I like the concept but agree it's probably not enough to take the punt.
