Davis and Morant swarm the east!

Post#1 » by stamsammy » Sat Nov 1, 2025 1:44 pm

Hornets Acquire...+ $1.6M
Anthony Davis, Ja Morant
Send out: Bridges, Sexton, Knupell, 2026 1st

Why? The east is wide open, and they might see this as a chance to go for their best playoff ever - the 2nd round. It's also a chance to give their youth meaningful playoff experience and move on from the often injured Ball.

Morant - Miller - Green - Davis - Diabate
Yes, 2 of these shouldn't be starters, but you never know.

Mavericks Acquire...- $4.1M
Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, Kon Knueppel, 2026 1st
Send out: AD

Why? This 2 timelines doesn't seem to be working for them. Next year Irving will come back but banking on his and AD's health seems risky. They commit to Flagg and bring him Knueppel, the 4th pick which already has experience spacing the floor for him, while also tanking this year for a high pick.

Russell - Knuppel - Washington - Flagg - Lively

Grizzlies Acquire...+ $2.5M
LaMelo Ball, Dwight Powell
Send out: Morant

Why? Morant has been a force behind the firing of one coach already, and is already tanking his value this year. They think this team isn't on the path to success and gamble on Ball at least bringing excitement and boosting morale, while also being younger.

Ball - Coward - Wells - JJ - Edey

What do you think? I'm aware DAL won't be quick to trade AD, but I wonder what record will make them FIRE NICO and pull the plug.

Dont see Cha giving up Kon this quickly, just isnt done with guys picked that high their rookie year. Maybe if Cha had that moron Nico instead of Dallas

Feels like there's a version of this with Memphis cut.

AD for filler+youth/pick from Charlotte makes some sense for both squads. I don't get why Charlotte would want to swap LaMelo for Ja.
I bought a boat.

No interest in Ball or Young or Sabonis on the Memphis side

Im not a Melo fan, but if Dallas can turn AD/Caleb into LaMelo/Green/McNeely/Mavs 27 pick returned or AD/Hardy for LaMelo/Pat C/McNeely/Mavs 27 pick returned, might as well take the sunk loss and do it. At least the pieces fit at that point

Any other realistic return for Ja? Or are you good with keeping him and hoping his value doesn't drop further?
(If I were you I'd take Ball or Young in a heartbeat)

I don’t think Charlotte should do either of those trades at this point.

Sort of understand trading for AD to get Ball/Kon/Miller some playoff experience.

Yeah, we will keep him. He is still absolutely beloved in Memphis. I expect the things to calm down soon and he will adapt to the new “share the ball quickly and run” system. I see nothing that Trey or LaMelo may provide that Ja doesn’t.

Really? You see nothing? Even if you think Ja is better than both, Trae and Ball are complete different players. Outside shooters who can make plays versus a downhill guard who looks to attack. I see a ton that Trae and Ball provide that Ja don’t, and things Ja provides that Trae and Ball don’t.

Let's say I woulden't bet on it going ok but I see where you're coming from - right now all you can get for Ja is flawed (Ball is injured, Trae might leave soon, Sabonis doesn't lead you to the playoffs in the west).

I actually don't see alot of options for places he could thrive so hopefully he does for you guys (:
