Strus to LAC, DJJ to Utah, Konchar to Cavs

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Mon Aug 17, 2026 6:45 pm

Ill offer this 3 way deal for
-Cavs to get another $10.5 million under apron if plan is to re-sign Harden and go after Kuminga via S&T
-Utah gets more athletic and versatile off bench leveraging apron space
-Clippers get a pick in swapping out DJJ for Strus leveraging apron space

To Los Angeles Clippers (Trade Derrick Jones Jr.)
-Max Strus (1 year, $16.6 million)
-2031 Cleveland 2nd round pick via Utah
-2032 Sacramento 2nd round pick via Cleveland

To Utah (Trade Konchar, 2nd)
-Derrick Jones Jr. (1 year, $10.5 million)

To Cleveland (Trade Strus, 2nd)
-Jon Konchar(1 year, $6.1 million)

Why?
-Clippers leverage apron flexibility to swap out DJJ for Strus while getting a pick
-Jazz get more athletic with DJJ who gives them more versatilily off the bench at the cost of increasing cap by $4.5 million
-Cavs get $10.5 million more space under 1st apron to buy more flexibility to re-sign Harden and go after Kuminga in a S&T with Hawks

Utah owes 2-3 seconds, also Cavs should just cut them out

Yeah, if Cavs were to move on from Strus, I'd just take DJJ and call it a day.

Agreed, but I suspect that DJJ is more available on Realgm than real life. The Clippers have Garland, just drafted a rookie guard, and if the Leonard trade goes through, Ingram isn't anyone's idea of a lock down defender. They don't have Zubac protecting the rim anymore.
This will end badly

Yea i dont see Clips trading DJJ unless they get a slam dunk win of a trade. DJJ is a highly in demand player archetype for competing squads, expiring, and not overpaid. If the payout is only 2 SRPs, Clips are better off waiting til the deadline to see if anyone is desperate. Also it's good to have DJJ around to help the team not be too embarassing on the court.

I just don't think there are enough minutes to go around for the guys who deserve it in our perimeter rotation as is.

The Cavs are not going to pay draft capital to turn Strus into salary they can't play in the playoffs. They'd probably waive and stretch him first.

They might pay the remaining allowable cash ($4.5m) to do it though.

Why can't they play a great defender who shoots 36% on decently solid volume from 3 in the playoffs? He was a pretty solid contributor to Dallas' run to the Finals in 2023/24... :dontknow:

Meant the OP's Konchar deal. DJJ is definitely interesting but I don't think 2nds would pry him loose.

Well DJJ is definitely on the market now, Clips would prolly start the bidding at 2 SRPs and go from there. Getting back a young prospect PF would be nice too.

Strus on the Clips has definitely overloaded the SF slot, i wonder if Ingram can play some PF these days.
