HOU/UTA/MIA/NJN/GSW T-mac blockbuster

Post#1 » by HotSpurs21 » Tue Jan 1, 2008 7:23 pm

Houston
out: Tracy McGrady, Mike James, Kirk Snyder, Carl Landry, Luther Head
in: Mehmet Okur, Richard Jefferson, Jason Williams, Morris Almond

T-Mac has made it be known that he is unhappy in Houston, and it's clear that he and Yao just don't fit with each other. It's impossible that the Houston FO will trade Yao, so T-Mac has to be the one who goes. They get a replacement for him in Jefferson, who should be an excellent fit with Adelman's Princeton offense. Okur's shooting ability should help spread the floor for Yao. They also get JWill, who is experienced with running Adelman's offense and should be an adequate backup here. Almond gives them a good prospect at SG in the future.

Rotation:
Yao/Okur/Mutombo
Okur/Scola/Hayes
Jefferson/Battier
Wells/Almond
Alston/JWill

Utah
out: Mehmet Okur, Morris Almond, Ronnie Price
in: Sean Williams, Luther Head, Jason Collins, Kirk Snyder (cut)

With the acquisition of Kyle Korver, Okur's has become even more expendable, especially with his current struggles putting him in Sloan's doghouse. They address their problems with interior defense with a shot-blocking big in Sean Williams. DWill reunites with college buddy Luther Head, while we also see the reunion of the Collins twins

Rotation:
Sean Williams/Fes/Collins twins
Boozer/Millsap
AK/Korver/Harpring
Brewer/Head/Miles
DWill/Head/Hart

Miami
out: Jason Williams, Smush Parker, Alexander Johnson, future 2nd
in: Mike James, Mickael Pietrus, Ronnie Price

James gives them more stability and health at PG position. Pietrus provides them depth at SG/SF, while Ronnie Price gives them an option and insurance as their 3rd string PG

Rotation:
Shaq/Barron
Haslem/Wright
Pietrus/Wright
Wade/Cook
James/Quinn/Price

New Jersey
out: Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, Sean Williams
in: Tracy McGrady, Carl Landry

They reunite T-Mac with his cousin Carter to try to create some new spark and draw some more crowd. Landry gives them some depth at PF after losing two big in the trade

Rotation:
Boone/Magloire
Allen/Landry
T-Mac/Nachbar
Carter/Wright
Kidd/Williams

Golden State
out: Mickael Pietrus
in: Smush Parker, Alexander Johnson, MIA future 2nd

With Azubuike and Belinelli on the team, Pietrus doesn't seem to have a role there. They get an expiring and a pick, and Alexander Johnson who is a no-risk tryout to see if he can help their rebounding woes.

Rotation:
Biedrins/Harrington
Harrington/Johnson/Barnes
Jackson/Barnes
Azubuike/Belinelli
Davis/Ellis/Parker

It'll work if you get Head and Hayes out of there.

I don't see it for Miami or Golden State, and I don't like it for Houston. I'm not an Okur fan. NJ takes a big risk, but Utah comes out ahead with the dump of Okur and getting good young talent back. Jason and Jarron get to be together, I guess.

Warriors don't need any more shooting guards (Snyder) so no on this end.

If Krstic comes back strong for the nets then I would considered it as a nets fan. But you basically traded rj and williams for tmac. rj isn't as good as tmac but Tmac is not worth rj and the potential of williams

I already posted that trade on aonther thread but most Warriors fans don't seem too hot on the idea.

Then take out Utah, send Sean Williams to Hosuton. I'd love to have him.

Wow that is real bad for the jazz, the jazz get what sean williams for okur? Lose a young sharp shooting talent in almond, takes on another collins, sloan barely plays the one we have. Head would be nice but he lacks being an actual point guard, snyder yeah we dont want to have gira 2.0.

I sure don't see Utah being happy with this. S Williams is not ready to fill Okur's shoes. Does Utah risk losing ground in the West to maybe get a future asset?

This is marginal for GSW. Almond is the guy in this I'd like to get...but then GSW isn't really putting a lot on the table, mostly moves Pietrus a half season early, gets a little to offset loss of a rotation player who can have some big games.
CENSORED... No comment.

The Jazz only say yes if you throw in an industrial size tube of KY Jelly.

Why? They easily get the best part of the trade.

I like it for Houston IMO

With Okur and his three point threat Yao will have a lot of room to maneuver. RJ is a great replacement for mac too.

I'll give you this - for the number of players and teams involved, it's pretty close to fair value for each team, I have no idea why the Houston fans are grouchy about this ideas - McGrady = Jefferson + Okur in my opinion. McGrady simply isn't at the elite superstar status some make him ought to be - if he were, he would have made it past the 1st rd of the playoffs by now. From the Utah perspective, Williams doesn't strike me as ready for the full-time starting role @ the 5, and I don't know where Head fits in on the Jazz, but I like the idea of moving Memo for defensive help. All in all - Good job!
