Revised Proposal: ATL-SEA-UTA

This is another alteration, this time of the "nothing major" (false advertising, btw!) proposal.

ROBERT SWIFT DISCLAIMER: WE ALL KNOW HE'S INJURED, SO THE JAZZ CAN'T INSERT HIM INTO OKUR'S PLACE IMMEDIATELY. BUT HE'S DUE BACK SOON; I'M JUST NOT SURE HOW DOE-EYED SONICS FANS STILL ARE ABOUT HIM. THIS DEAL CAN BE DONE WITH ANY OF THE SONICS' YOUNG C'S, BUT I THOUGHT ROBERT WOULD BE THE JAZZ' BEST FIT WITH HIS (RELATIVELY) ADVANCED OFFENSIVE LOW-POST GAME.

Atlanta Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players: Mehmet Okur, Damien Wilkins, Earl Watson
Outgoing Players: Lorenzen Wright, Tyronn Lue, Josh Childress, Zaza Pachulia
ATL adds a versatile weapon to its attack, and shores up its shaky G depth. If Horford doesn't become the backup PF/C, he and Smith would slide down for Okur. Williams would then return to his UNC role, signaling a championship run for the Hawks!

How long are we supposed to wait for Robert Swift to show he can be an NBA player? The guy was talented as a high schooler, but he's never been able to stay on the court for more than a couple of games in the NBA. No thanks.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the need ofr UTA to be involved in this deal, either. Okur isn't going to be valued as highly by ATL as he will with some other teams, and no one in the trade has an ideal substitute for Memo.

Oh well, I was just riffin' off of another thread! I do think that SEA and ATL make good trading partners, though...

K Thomas will likely be traded at the deadline and the R Swift evalution begins then. R Swift could really play... before the injury. I've seen him try to play several times since October. He's gotten a lot bigger & stronger (275 lbs), but his knee is just does not giving him anything close to the mobility he used to have.

There's no way we trade R Swift at this point. One of two scenarios will happen...

(a) R Swift regains the form he had prior to the injury, or something close to it, he takes over the starting center job and the Sonics pick up his fifth year on his rookie contract and/or extend it,

OR

(b) R Swift is not able to recover from this knee injury and the Sonics do not resign him

If the offers for K Thomas don't outweigh his on/off court value to the Sonics (actually pretty high), probably mid-February is as good a guess as any as to the start of R Swift's comeback attempt.

Not really sure what you're slamming about the Sonics' approach. If you'd like to clarify, fine, if not at least your avitar was worth looking at.

I do think that SEA and ATL make good trading partners, though...

I don't know about that one.
What the Sonics really want to trade are point guards Luke Ridnour and Earl Watson, but the Hawks already have guys at that position and most likely wouldn't be interested in those 2+ years their contracts still run.

We also have some other pieces like Wilcox, Wilkins, Gelabale, Petro, Thomas etc. but the Hawks do not have a 1st round pick this year or the pieces(no, Zaza is not really what we'd want at the center position) needed and aren't in need for the other guys we'd be offering.

BTW: I'd still rather trade Petro then Swift and don't really like that trade, cause Pachulia is not what i'd want at center and Childress would most likely be a back up to Durant and Green and he'll look for a nice contract this summer.

Atlanta and seattle are not great trading partners. Seattle has some pg's, but they are really much, if a, improvement over our current point guards.
