to new begginings.............JJ for JR Smith

Post#1 » by Dwightmare » Mon Jan 7, 2008 11:25 pm

Den trades JR Smith (1.8M Expiring) and a 2nd rounder
for
JJ Redick (2.0M until 2010)

Why? Each player gets a fresh start. Denver isn't going to resign JR Smith since they are in lux cap territory and he will probably demand around MLE. Orlando would resign him. Den gets a player under a rookie contract for 3 more years so they give up a 2nd rounder.

I dunno, I have trouble believing Redick is worth more than the 2nd rounder right now. Seems Smith is being given away for very little.

yeah but look at smiths track history, its not very impressive, hes obviously as thick as a brick, and is getting dnp after dnp atm, so is redick, but like the poster said he has a good contract for years to come, and also could be a useful 3point threat on denver

I don't think Denver does this.

JR Smith for Redick straight up is already a steal for Orlando, they should be giving up the pick (not Denver). Smith has at least proven that he can play on the NBA level, Redick hasn't.

I agree, a solid deal, but maybe if orlando adds the option to swap first round picks? with lottery protection? (if possible)

since both teams are pretty decent, if Orlando turns out with a pick thats a slot or two ahead, Denver could move up.

This is funny from Denver but I could see why Orlando does this.

PG - Nelson
SG - Smith
SF - Lewis
PF - Howard
C - Foyle

JR Smith has played for 2 of the most pigheaded coaches in the league. I would love to see him on a veteran team where the coach isn't trying to be a dictator. Not particularly saying that Orlando is that team, just that I would like to see it.

Just curious, would you guys pull the trigger on a Pietrus for JR swap?
