Big Dal-Atl-Mia

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Tue Jan 8, 2008 1:34 pm

Dallas Gets: Joe Johnson, Ty Lue

Atlanta Gets: Josh Howard Jason Williams

Mia Gets: Jason Terry Maurice Ager

Dallas: They lose Josh Howard which will hurt, but Joe Johnson may be a better fit, he's just as good a scorer, with better passing and playmaking ability, a big Dallas need.

Atl: Josh Howard fits well with Atl can fill Joe's production. Jason Williams not only gives them a betetr PG than they have, but also an expiring that frees up money to sign Josh Smith and Marvin Williams.

Mia: They take Terry's longer deal, but with so much money tied up to Shaq and Wade they might as well get talent while they can for Shaq's years. Terry spreads the floor for wade and shaq and can be the ideal sidekick for both.

Thoughts?

Redundant for both Dallas and ATL, too much risk dealing key players. Also JJ is ATL's leader for better or worse, Josh is no 1st option. For Dallas, how will JJ react to playing second fiddle to Dirk? IIRC he left PHX to be the 1st option in ATL, we don't want to f-ck up chemistry like that. And while JJ is a better playmaker he is not as good a defensive player and Dallas can't afford to lose one of the few tough guys on the roster

That was my question. I do like that da was brave enough to suggest a Josh trade. I still have many reservations about Terry and Harris in the same back court. each has their individual strengths, but I do not think work all that well together

i think the mavs could get a hell of alot more trading jt and jho then joe johnson, that deal would probably pull tmac from houston so i think donnie nelson would hang up the phone on that one

Hawks fan here.

one of the few non-insulting Joe trades, but no thanks. Josh puts up good numbers, but i'm too worried that Josh's numbers are coming off being a 2nd option. Josh might have it in him to be a 1st option, but since both players are so similar talent and stat wise, i would just rather stick with Joe.

I didnt know about JJ's defense, I always heard he was a good defender at the wing position, and no need for T-Mac, I for one would take JJ over him any day of the week, without helping houston in the process.

yeah imo JJ > Tmac and Josh + JET definitely >>> TMac

JJ's defense is good, no doubt, but Josh is one of the BEST wing defenders in the league. Not a knock on JJ at all. It's like Bowen being a better defender than Battier. Not to say that Battier isn't a good defender in his own right, just one of them is near the top of the league in D while the other is very good.

He did play in PHX, so he has no formal Defensive training.
