wallace deals, lots of wallace deals

Post#1 » by dflaschberger » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:14 am

Here is a summary of all the wallace deals I think possible

1. Wallace for Kwame and Vlad, with the possibility of doing a 3 way with kwame's expiring to memphis in a gasol deal

2. Wallace and bulls #1 this year, plus duhon to minny for marko and theo

3. wallace, thabo and our #1 this year (no protection) for okur, harping

4. Wallace and our #1 for Shaq

5. Wallace to NY for either Curry/Rose or Zack (curry would have to go elsewhere-like Memphis for gasol)

6. Wallace, Noah and our #1 for JON

7. Wallace to Tor for Rasho and Jorge

8. Wallace, duhon, VK for Hughes, DJones and AndersonV or gooden

9. Wallace for DannyG and Simmons (IF Noc is dealt elsewhere)

Any of these doable?

NO luck from Minny? Marko's deal is one year longer, and they could get a nice pick?

I really like the Raptors one for both sides, but I think BC is happy with the cap space he'll have in 09.

It's not that its unfair, it's just that if MIN did this deal and added $8 mil in salary next year, they wouldn't be able to stay under the lux and pay the MIN and CHI picks, and would have no flexibility if they wanted to bring back Gomes, Craig Smith or Telfair.

In the other thread, I suggested:

Ben Wallace + JamesOn Curry (or whoever) + CHI pick (Top 5 Protected)

for

Jaric + Walker + BOS pick + $3 mil in cash.

For MIN, this defers the payment one year, and avoids the lux stranglehold, since Hudson and Juwon's deals come off the books then too. A second pick would be nice, and while Ben is tragicly over-priced, he'd fit OK next to Al Jefferson if he ever got his game together.

For CHI, this surprisingly doesn't really alter the finances of the first deal too much. Ratliff's deal costs more than Walker's this year, so CHI saves about $2.5 mil over the rest of the season. They defer paying the CHI pick a year, saving $2 mil. And the $3 mil in cash toals a $7.5 mil savings. Walker only costs $9 mil next year, and as an expiring, he should have some trade value to boot.

Moving Wallace provides more playing time for Noah and Tyrus Thomas, and removes of one of the worst contracts in the league. This deal is a 2-for-2, so CHI doesn't have to buy out another player. Walker and Jaric are playing pretty well, so the deal nets CHI +13.2 PPG. While the two won't get as much playing time on the Bulls, they might provide options that could lead to a few more wins, devalueing the pick.

 That is the worst idea I have ever seen on this board.

No thanks for Miami. If we're trading Shaq, it's for a rebuild. Wallace doesn't fit that. I'd rather buy Shaq out.

which is 5-8 mill if we re-sign Delfino, Calderon, Moon, Bargnani (which is what you want, right?)

if Ben Wallace comes to Toronto, he had better bring Thabo/Duhon with him, we can throw in a 2nd rounder if they do

Jazz decline that offer. Wallace just doesn't look very good, Sefolosha hasn't yet shown that he's better than any of the young SGs we're already clustering, and we don't really need picks. We want contributors, so I think we'll take our chances with Okur (FINALLY stringing together some good games) and Harp.

The MIN fans seem on board. Ben's got a giant contract, but maybe he'd set an example for the kids. The only request was some kind of lottery protection on the 2009 BOS pick, which looks pretty irrelevent to me.

Even if not, this may be a good deal for the Bulls.

Are the Bulls really hemorraghing for money? They'd have to be to do this trade. That or crazy as a loon.

3. wallace, thabo and our #1 this year (no protection) for okur, harping

Okur? He'd be frustrated on the Bulls with no post presence to give him his open shots. He's no post presence that the Bulls need.

I wouldn't do it if I were the Bulls.

4. Wallace and our #1 for Shaq

Shaq is pretty much done for. Even if you assume so is Wallace (and at least Wallace can still be relied on to suit up) isn't this basically giving the heat a no.1 pick and $15 million worth of savings?

5. Wallace to NY for either Curry/Rose or Zack (curry would have to go elsewhere-like Memphis for gasol)

Wallace for Zach Randolph would make a lot of sense for both teams.

6. Wallace, Noah and our #1 for JON

Possibly though JO may be on the decline.

7. Wallace to Tor for Rasho and Jorge

Possibly...possibly.

8. Wallace, duhon, VK for Hughes, DJones and AndersonV or gooden

That might be interesting. Hughes IMHO needs a change of scenery more so than anyone but perhaps Ben Wallace. Gooden would give the Bulls more of a post presence (compared to what they have).

9. Wallace for DannyG and Simmons (IF Noc is dealt elsewhere)

Any of these doable?

Gadzuric and Simmons are no storm burners either.

yes, but we'll take on a bad deal, so we understand his decline. He could still be effective- I think the lakers would need him the most
