Chicago-Houston-LA Clippers-Portland

Post#1 » by Village Idiot » Tue Jan 15, 2008 3:48 pm

Chicago trades:

Ben Gordon
Salary: $4,881,669 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 19.1 REB: 3.8 AST: 2.8 PER: 14.50

Ben Wallace
Salary: $15,500,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 4.5 REB: 9.1 AST: 2.0 PER: 11.98

Chicago receives:

Corey Maggette
Salary: $7,000,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 19.9 REB: 6.0 AST: 2.8 PER: 18.08

Mike James
Salary: $5,826,893 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 7.3 REB: 1.7 AST: 1.8 PER: 10.52

Steve Novak
Salary: $687,456 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.7 REB: 2.3 AST: 0.3 PER: 20.80

Kirk Snyder
Salary: $2,358,433 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 3.8 REB: 1.3 AST: 0.9 PER: 15.05

Chicago gets Maggette, a big SG who can drive and draw the foul and is an equally great scorer as Gordon. Hinrich and Nocioni are both solid outside shooters so that aspect of Gordon's game won't be missed so much. Mike James takes over the role of scoring guard off the bench. Neither Novak nor Snyder have much value beyond salary filler to make the trade work. They do have ending contracts though meaning the Bulls get the Ben Wallace mistake off their books sooner rather than later.

Houston trades:

Shane Battier
Salary: $5,883,600 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 8.2 REB: 5.0 AST: 1.8 PER: 10.62

Mike James
Salary: $5,826,893 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 7.3 REB: 1.7 AST: 1.8 PER: 10.52

Steve Novak
Salary: $687,456 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.7 REB: 2.3 AST: 0.3 PER: 20.80

Kirk Snyder
Salary: $2,358,433 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 3.8 REB: 1.3 AST: 0.9 PER: 15.05

Houston receives:

James Jones
Salary: $2,900,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 10.0 REB: 3.0 AST: 0.8 PER: 17.95

Ben Wallace
Salary: $15,500,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 4.5 REB: 9.1 AST: 2.0 PER: 11.98

This trade helps Houston get some nice complimentary pieces to Yao and T-Mac. Ben Wallace and Yao Ming will be a nightmare to score against. James Jones is leading the league in 3 pt%. His role in Houston will be the same as in Portland. Stand at the 3pt line and shoot. His defence is adequate and he's an outstanding locker room presence.

LA Clippers trade:

Corey Maggette
Salary: $7,000,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 19.9 REB: 6.0 AST: 2.8 PER: 18.08

LA Clippers receive:

Shane Battier
Salary: $5,883,600 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 8.2 REB: 5.0 AST: 1.8 PER: 10.62

Jarrett Jack
Salary: $1,217,400 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 9.7 REB: 2.8 AST: 3.7 PER: 12.60

The Clippers trade some offence for defence and depth. Battier will compliment Brand and Kaman really well in the Clipper front court. Acquiring Jack will allow them to move Cassel for future assets.

Portland trades:

James Jones
Salary: $2,900,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 10.0 REB: 3.0 AST: 0.8 PER: 17.95

Jarrett Jack
Salary: $1,217,400 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 9.7 REB: 2.8 AST: 3.7 PER: 12.60

While James Jones has been a godsend with his leadership and shooting I just don't see him long-term as a Blazer. Sames goes with Jack. Gordon takes his minutes as combo-guard. As has been stated many times here before Ben Gordon would be an outstanding compliment to Brandon Roy.

I actually like this quite a bit for Chicago. At first I didn't like it, but after closer inspection it is pretty darn good.

Rockets decline quickly, and Portland gets Gordon for only Jones and Jack? Seems like they should add something else going Houston's way.

Yeah the Rockets get screwed really badly on this one. Wallace is running on fumes and has a huge deal, where as they trade Battier who is a great team player and a much more reasonable deal. Also portland gets way to good of a deal in this. They would have to toss a pick or Outlaw or something to sweeten this deal and still it would come back to the fact nobody wants Wallace.

They take on Wallace but they also get James Jones...He is a huge addition if you haven't seen him play yet..Jones is the only thing that makes me shaky on making this deal but I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too...Welcome to the next dynasty Ben Gordon......
