MIN-NJN

I know New Jersey fans are going to be resistant to this deal...But all I ask is that you think about it for a second...

Minny Gets:

Sean Williams
Malik Allen

NJN Gets:

Craig Smith
Ryan Gomes
Gerald Green

This is the Minnesota Timberwolves wildly overpaying for the player that they need and a fan favorite in New Jersey. NJN would become one of the deeper teams in the east after this deal.

Nets won't trade Sean Williams unless for an elite big. While Smith and Gomes are useful, neither of them fit into the category

Nets will probably do Smith + Jaric for Collins + top-20 protected 1st though

NO, 21, we will not. NJ is not high enough on Smith to absorb Jaric. He would seriously be worth as much as Jerome James, to us. FOR THE LAST TIME, here's how it would play out: Coach Frank would force Marko to be strictly an off-the-ball backup SG/SF option, with someone else running the offense for him at all times. His level play would quickly languish with so few playmaking opportunities, followed closely by his effort and attitude. This is exactly what happened to the very similar Zoran Planinic, our former 1st-round pick; we ended up buying out the 4th year of his rookie deal. We didn't like buying out Z for >$2mil, and we would be stuck with Marko 'til 2011!!!

BTW, adding the 1st is outright lunacy. We would not even consider sweetening an already horrible deal.

Zero chance Jaric comes to NJ, and I am stupefied that this idea has become so popular around here.

Marko would be better as an off the ball SG/SF. His PG skills are over rated, especially because he's too slow to guard quick PGs like Tony Parker. He's much more suited to catch and shoot 3's and defense, he's just been forced into the PG mold his whole career because he's been on teams with no other option.
