For the record, I don't even know if I'd do this deal as a Blazer fan and I have no clue if Suns fans would be interested in it. I'm basically just bored and want to throw a new idea out there...

i doubt the suns would be interested, but i sure as hell would be amare and oden would be a amazing combo. I do like aldridge but that would be a deal that would be to good to be true.

Don't worry, Suns wouldn't consider this anyway.

What's up with all the trade proposals regarding Amare at the moment? Seriously: did anyone mention he's available? Haven't heard anything about it, and looking at the Suns' record so far this season we're not exactly in the need to blow up the entire team yet, either :-?

Thanks for the link, Spykes. I also just saw what that ESPN clown (aka Chris Sheridan) wrote, so I guess there's actually some reason for all of those threads popping up today.

Anyway, it won't happen. There were rumors about the Suns refusing to trade Amare for KG last summer, so why should they give him up for a worse player like Rasheed Wallace now? It's not like Stoudemire is having an extremely bad season or something like that. If anyone (valuable) leaves Phoenix, then it will be Marion and/or Barbosa.

Amare and Oden would win titles until they retire.

Adding Jarrett Jack or Sergio Rodriguez makes it pretty close to fair. Don't think it put the Suns any closer to a championship though.

LMA is a good start, but I think Suns fans think (and rightly so) that Stoudamire is significantly better, and also young. They definitely wouldn't (and again, rightly so) be willing to take on Raef's contract (I'm aware its got just another year after this one), and that they would be well within their rights to demand one of Webster/Outlaw in addition to Aldridge.

Amare Stoudamire is probably the most overrated player in the league. He's a decent player but I'd rather take my chances on Aldridge's continued development. He's a much better compliment to Oden with his mid-range game anyway. He's also on a rookie contract. I'd rather save the $8 million or so in salary difference and try to get a big name FA in 09.

With how salary conscious the Suns are, I don't agree with the bolded statement. Raef gives them some salary relief or a expiring contract to use in another deal.

What if Portland throws in Sergio and their pick?

To be completely honest, I actually agree with you for the most part. It doesn't make a ton of sense for Portland to move Aldridge right now and I do think Amare's stats are a bit over-inflated because of the system he plays in. That said, I still would be interested to see what an Oden/Amare frontcourt could do.

As for trying to get a "big name FA in 09", I've all but given up on that idea. I really don't think Portland is going to have a ton of cap space in 09 and any big deal they make will either be a S&T or a deal with Raef's soon-to-be expiring deal.

How about changing it to a three way with the clips.

Portland outgoing- Aldridge, Jack, 1st, Raef

incoming- Amare

Phoenix outgoing- Amare

incoming- Brand, Jack, portland 1st

Clippers outgoing- Brand

incoming- Aldridge, Raef

Then a follow up trade of Banks, Pike and the portland 1st to the clips for Cassell. Obviously the trade would have to wait until around the trade deadline so that Brand could prove that he's healthy. If he's not healthy then it's a pointless trade for the suns.

Phoenix hates draft picks, would trade every one they have if they could, so adding Portland's is risky. Plus, if you are Portland, you can go over the cap when you resign LA and Roy, and still have money to get the FA you want in two years. Sorry, any deal with Portland that has long term effects is out, as is Sergio Rodriguez.
