Why do you think it might be time to move him? Unless it is for an expiring I don't see what they would stand to benefit from moving Shaq.

Precisely. It's not like you're offering us Kevin Garnett. You're offering a guy in exactly the same condition as Shaq, just nowhere near as good. Why wouldn't we keep Shaq, take our lottery pick, and be better next year? Seriously, a mid first rounder is not compensation for downgrading from Shaq to Wallace. We can get our monetary savings elsewhere.

Why? Are they not looking for a PG to backup Davis and eve fill in for Davis in case of injury? Are they not looking for one that is a short contract? You make it sound like it's a long contract and it is only half a season.

Thats a fine opinion to hold, but you haven't really said why. Have you looked at their salary situation? Right now they're set up to be right around the cap next season. They'll need to add at least 3 roster spots, but one of those will be a top 5 pick. They'll have tons of room before they get near the tax, enough to use their MLE. They could make it back to the playoffs as soon as next season depending on who they get in the draft and who they use the MLE on. Even if they suck again they'll get another top pick and have a slew of expiring deals (including Shaq's) to use. If they do things right, they should have a two year rebuild max, even with Shaq around. And they don't have to worry about the tax.
