GS/Min bench trade

Post#1 » by dom80e » Sat Jan 19, 2008 1:40 am

Pietrus, Belinelli, O'Bryant, Perovic and a GS 1st for Smith, Gomes, Telfair, Green and Doleac.

GS sends signed players for pending FA's. They add the 1st for the extra production.

Minnesota gets young players with minimum contracts for a couple more years. They also add a pick which is good for a rebuilding team.

Telfair or Green can be removed if that is too much for Minnesota to give.

I like the idea of GS/MIn doing a trade. I actually do not like Pietrus for what the wolves are doing. So he would need to be 3-way or not involved at all.

If you take Pietrus out the salary GS is commiting to the trade is 20.7 cap. The proposed MN offer then is 12.5 too high. (the Pietrus difference) Removing Telfair makes the difference.

So it would be
Belinelli
perovic
O'Bryant
1st (what kind of protection would you want)

for

C.Smith
R.Gomes
G.Green
M.Doleac
(all expiring contracts and at least 2 of those guys are very good)

Does taking out Pietrus help you? Being that he is probably the top player originally offered.

MN does this because we need size (O'bryant/Perovic) and we are collecting 1st rd picks. Belinelli is appealing to me.

Craig Smith is a very good player and a fan favorite, but he cannot play with Al thus his roll on our team is limited. Ryan Gomes is becoming one of my personal favorite players, but he is better set on a playoff team then a rebuilding team. These two guys should be in any rotation.
